Little Nightmares – Broken Promises is an upcoming 2026 stop-motion animated horror short film based on the Little Nightmares video game series. Directed by Sofía Carrillo and Juan J. Medina, the film is a France–Mexico production by Taller del Chucho and Bandai Namco Europe. It was selected for the Commissioned Films category at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.[1][2]

Plot

A neglected young girl, confined to an attic, escapes into a miniature world whose inviting appearance gives way to darker discoveries.[3][1]

Production

Little Nightmares – Broken Promises was developed in collaboration with Taller del Chucho, the International Animation Center at the University of Guadalajara.[2] The project was first teased during the Little Nightmares Showcase event in June 2025, when a stop-motion project connected to the franchise was announced.[4]

The film was directed by Carrillo and Juan J. Medina from a screenplay by Carrillo and Lonnie Nadler. Tobias Lilja composed the music, and Mayrení Senior Seda is credited for animation. Its production credits also include Michel Amado for camera and Tim Holleyman for artistic direction. The film uses object animation, puppets, and 3D computer animation.[1]

Release

Little Nightmares – Broken Promises was selected for the Commissioned Films category at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.[2][1][5] The film has a running time of 13 minutes and 17 seconds and is classified under drama and horror.[1]
