The Egypt national football team, nicknamed the Pharaohs, represents Egypt in men's international football, and is governed by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), the governing body of football in Egypt. It has been a member of FIFA since 1923 and was a founding member of Confederation of African Football in 1957.
Egypt is the oldest and most successful team in the history of African football, having won the Africa Cup of Nations for a record 7 times and reached the final 10 times. They won the cup 3 times consecutively in 2006, 2008, and 2010 (a feat unmatched by any other team).
Internationally, Egypt is the first country in the world outside Europe and the Americas to participate in the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. The Egyptians qualified to 13 Olympic Games (an African record), as well as 4 World Cups. Egypt’s first Olympic football participation came in 1920 Antwerp, while the first World Cup participation was in the 1934 edition.
