Comments

  • Birth name not cited
    • Done.
  • Is top-10 supposed to have a hyphen? Not asking you to change anything.
    • Hmm I'm not sure, but I decided to cut it.
  • "in Fall River, Massachusetts in" comma
    • Done.
  • Westport, Massachusetts - link?
    • Done.
  • Azorean? That's new (I think) lol
    • I'm pretty sure she's the first Azores-related topic I've ever written about.
  • "American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame" add AVCA?
    • Done.
  • "She attended Westport High School in Massachusetts where she graduated in 1959 as class valedictorian." comma before where?
    • Added.
  • Why's she in "Sportspeople from New Bedford, Massachusetts"?
    • So it seems originally I had said she grew up in New Bedford, based on a UofDelaware source calling her a "New Bedford native". Someone changed it to say Westport. Given that her obituary says Westport I'm keeping it as Westport and cut the New Bedford category.
  • "Viera had international coaching experience as well, coaching teams that competed in Argentina, Barbados, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and St. Lucia." Putting "coaching teams that competed in" makes it sound like they were US teams that competed in other countries. Were they actually US teams or Argentinan, etc. teams? Any more details on her international career?
    • Based on the source saying "She coached at the international level and took her teams to compete in Barbados, St. Lucia, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, Argentina and Mexico." and another source saying "Viera coached U.S. international teams in Barbados, St. Lucia and the former Soviet Union", it seems it was U.S. teams and not teams from other countries. I clarified "Viera had international coaching experience as well, coaching U.S. teams that competed..."
  • "the Delaware Volleyball Coaches Association in 2002" Is that supposed to say Hall of Fame?
    • Yes.
  • "both the University of Delaware Hall of Fame at the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Hall of Fame in 2003" Is that supposed to say and?
    • Changed to "and". Thanks.
  • Any idea why she died in Rhode Island?
    • Well I do say "Viera lived in Newark, Delaware, until moving in 2024 to be nearer to her family," and Massachusetts (where she came from) borders Rhode Island, although the source doesn't say she specifically moved to Tiverton in 2024 so I think keeping it as is would make sense.

Spot checks

  • Ref 8 looks good.
  • Ref 1 looks good.
  • Ref 12 looks good.
