Talk:Bernie Sanders

Requesting a minor edit

I noticed something in the article's first paragraph,

"Ideologically a democratic socialist, Sanders is regarded as one of the main leaders of the modern American progressive movement."

Would it not be more accurate to reword this to say Sanders is a self described democratic socialist? Bernie is not ideologically a democratic socialist, ideologically he is a social democrat.

I am relatively new to Wikipedia and have never made an edit request, please excuse me if this was done incorrectly or written too informally. I request this with no ill-intentions. Agreatbigcake (talk) 22:17, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Yeah that does make more sense. I am also fairly inexperienced with Wikipedia and have no clue what an edit request is. You can probably just go ahead and make the edit and if anybody disagrees, they will revert and make a discussion thing Major Wd (talk) 07:32, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
I asked in talk, as the page is semi-protected and my account cannot edit it. Agreatbigcake (talk) 13:26, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
I see now, I was making that comment from mobile and didn't see that. You mind if I make the edit? I think it would be more accurate since the source cited says "self-described democratic socialist" Major Wd (talk) 13:46, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
of course! go ahead and make it :) Agreatbigcake (talk) 13:51, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

I would assume he is not too be confused with *Barry* Sanders.
