Hi GauchoDude, thanks for your work on this article. I've done an initial pass, and in the interest of transparency I want to flag a concern regarding GA criterion 3 (broadness in coverage). Given the subject's long career and documented impact on gymnastics (as reflected in organizational tributes and mainstream news obituaries), the article currently feels quite brief and thin on contextual detail. Much of it reads as a chronological listing of career milestones rather than a synthesized narrative explaining his significance and influence. Just from a brief search on newspapers.com, I see a lot of reporting that could be used to cover his life more broadly- for example: . "He later attended Saint Louis University and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign." could also be flagged with citation needed in the early life section. I recognize that this nomination has been in the queue for quite some time. If you’re able to do a substantial expansion in the next week or two, I’m happy to place the review on hold and see what progress we can make. If that isn’t feasible, it may make more sense to procedurally close the nomination for now and revisit GA after further development. Best, Zzz plant (talk) 16:33, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

I won't be able to work on this in the near future as I'll be traveling for holidays, which is a shame considering how long I've been waiting to work with someone on this.
For future clarification, where are you looking for expansion specifically? Bare had a junior/collegiate gymnastics career (in which he won an NCAA title even), however his impact/importance/notability was much more as a gymnastics administrator. As such, that section is much larger than the his athletic accomplishments, no different than Michael Jordan's basketball section being much larger than his baseball section.
Regarding your note re: citation needed, those citations are provided later in the article in his gymnastics career section. I'd imagine that to be a simple fix to re-cite those earlier. GauchoDude (talk) 20:59, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the thoughtful reply- I completely understand the timing issue around the holidays. To clarify my scope concern a bit more: I agree that Bare’s significance lies primarily in his work as a gymnastics administrator rather than as an athlete, and I don’t take issue with the relative size of those sections in relation to one another. My concern is more about depth and synthesis within the administrative career itself. Right now, that section largely reads as a sequence of positions and milestones, whereas GA criterion 3 - which doesn’t require comprehensiveness - still looks for enough contextual detail to explain why those roles mattered and how his influence was perceived at the time.
The obituaries and organizational tributes I mentioned earlier, which you already have cited, seem to offer material that could help with that kind of contextualization (contemporary assessments of his impact, leadership style, or lasting contributions), rather than just chronology. You’re also right about the education citations - re-citing them in the early life section is a straightforward fix.
You may find it helpful to skim through some sports biography GAs for inspiration - there may even be some that similarly follow a person with a more notable sports administration or coaching career after their playing career concluded.
Given the work needed and understandable timing constraints, I think the fairest path forward is to procedurally close the review for now. This keeps the queue moving, but I would be very happy to give this an expedited review once you've had time to develop it further. You already have a solid foundation here - lots of good sources and a clear outline of his key accomplishments - so feel free to ping me if you’d like me to take another look.
