Modern metropolis as human settlement

New York is a human settlement too, right? So should we add an image to make that clear?  Preceding unsigned comment added by HaraldNordgren (talkcontribs) 13:47, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

This has since been done with London and Tokyo. -- Beland (talk) 02:32, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Meaning of the human settlement

Human settlements are the civilian communities built by humans throughout the human-occupied territories.

Flora, Oregon

Flora, Oregon, is linked with a picture as an example of a populated place; the wiki page for Flora, Oregon, however, tells me it is a ghost town. With a population of probably 0 it should not be considered a populated place and not be linked as an example of one. ~2026-75632-5 (talk) 12:52, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

  • newly long enough, well sourced paraphrasing. I think ALT1 as the most interesting. however:
MallardTV ALT0 has an inconsistent comma in 10,000 but none in 5000. That's exactly how the author phrased . Properly formatting and reordering it would be best phrased as "[...] approximately 5,000 to 10,000 years ago". Dudzcar (talk) 21:59, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
