Why "d" and "sh"?

The article states the pronunciation is [oɽiˈsa].
In other words, Orisa.
How did we arrive at this nonsensical spelling "Odisha" when Orissa was already correct just the way it was?

It's in the article. — kashmīrī TALK 04:39, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
It is not 'r' but 'ɽ' as used in IPA. Click on the sound play button and hear it before making such comments. Thanks, --ExclusiveEditor 🔔 Ping Me! 18:00, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 7 May 2026

I would like to request that the photo of the Konark Temple be updated on the Wikipedia page. Please use the image I have mentioned, as it presents Odisha in a much better way.

The current image does not look good due to poor camera quality, which creates a negative impression. A clearer and more visually appealing photo would represent Odisha more effectively. Therefore, I kindly request you to replace the existing image with the one I have provided.

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before posting an edit request. PhantomVorteX (Talk) 10:18, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

Please update the infobox collage under the "image_skyline" parameter to replace the current single-themed architectural list with a balanced, multi-themed photo montage representing Odisha's ecological and cultural diversity.

Not done: your request appears to have been generated by a large language model. Day Creature (talk) 14:07, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
