Lead paragraph

The German invasion of Poland was in 1939...one of the most well-known dates in history. Was there a subsequent invasion in 1941 I'm missing? Since Germany occupied Poland and administered it I don't see how Slovakia could have participated in a 1941 invasion. The lead might be referring to the 1939 invasion, but for the assertion that Slovakia only joined the Axis in 1940. smf (talk) 19:28, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

On the First Slovak Republic page, it claims several Slovak units participated in the 1939 invasion.

1942 and 1943

No events from either of these years are covered. This is problematic.

Editing

Some of the writing is a bit rough. I presume the author is not a native English speaker, which is fine (and likely who will have the necessary information for a page such as this), but some copy editing would help. Perhaps this can be done at the same time as the proposed page merger. I'd undertake it, but I'm not always sure what is intended by the current language.

I have taken on doing some of the copy editing, but please correct anything factual that I get wrong. It is a little dicey trying to figure out what is being said in some of these entries.--MLKLewis (talk) 23:36, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Poland was occupied

It is correct to describe Poland as German occupied. If unnecessary then why does article use occupied for others? Examples:

German troops soon occupied Bohemia and Moravia

Hungarian occupation of a narrow strip of the common border that had previously been Slovak

The German occupation troops resumed the forwarding of the Final Solution Jniech (talk) 20:16, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

article needs significant work

Important topic, mostly devoid of inline references. I don't know who added in all this text, but they were extremely lazy. Where are the Reliable Sources? -HammerFilmFan 50.111.41.243 (talk) 19:48, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Merge with Slovak Republic (1939–1945)

Shouldn't this be merged with Slovak Republic (1939–1945), since the both cover the same thing? – Illegitimate Barrister (talkcontribs), 20:12, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

I agree that these articles should be merged because they cover the exact same historical entity and time period. Having two separate pages creates unnecessary redundancy and splits valuable information across different locations. The "Slovak Republic (1939–1945)" article is the more appropriate primary title as it identifies the specific political state that existed during the war. Dasomm (talk) 10:13, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Yes, merge to Slovak Republic (1939–1945). ThecentreCZ (talk) 04:02, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
Yeah, it'd be redundant to have 2 pages that cover the same thing although you'd have to trim it down a bit if the article size is too big. KreamoNoBrainos/Kreamy/Fat Man (talk) 18:13, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
Doesn't the Slovak Republic predate WW2 by six months, though? HadesTTW (he/him  talk) 02:54, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
yes, mainly because the Slovak Republic was made close to WW2, plus a prelude could fix the issue. KreamoNoBrainos/Kreamy/Fat Man (talk) 14:01, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Yes, merge into Slovak Republic (1939–1945). Otapka (talk) 12:10, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
