Unbold native name, make this template be similar as {{Infobox person}} and other biography infobox templates. Dabao qian (talk) 14:23, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Endorse - fully support this idea... Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:11, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

what do we think about also removing it from the "above" section so it isn't in the colored header? Again to make it more like Infobox person? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:20, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
This edit appears to have surfaced an issue where {{Infobox Chinese/Chinese}} is embedded (wrongly, it seems) in the native name arg. The result is a missing-end-tag div error. Examples: Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe and Zhejiang Yue Opera Troupe
My attempted fix (converting {{Infobox Chinese/Chinese}} to {{lang-zh}} & needing a few contortions to render as closely as possible to how it used to) is on China National Peking Opera Company.
Figured I'd check-in before extending this hack to all of the articles. — SirOlgen (talk) 23:38, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
That child template was being misused. It needs to be {{Infobox Chinese}}, and it needs to be in |module=, per the templates' documentation. Your hack appears to work also. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:13, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks. I was giving too much weight to maintaining the prior layout (with the Chinese name at the top). Utilizing the infoboxes as-designed is generally the better way to go. — SirOlgen (talk) 17:02, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

Change to "Also known as"

To be inline with other People and person infobox templates, I am recommending changing |label4= from Also known as to Other names. I would also recommend adding {{{other_names}}} as an alias (ironically) to {{{alias}}}. Any objection to this? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:06, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

I don't object, but I like how "also known as" makes consistent wording with a lot of sources: Britannica and AllMusic both use "also known as" for music biographies, and when an artist has different stage names or aliases, "aka" is very commonly used in articles, more than "other names" would. Remove dependency of {{Infobox musical artist/color}} and directly use #b0c4de. Dabao qian (talk) 11:17, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Children

This template should have a parameter for "children". (It already has a spouse parameter.) cagliost (talk) 07:58, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

See Template_talk:Infobox_musical_artist/Archive_18#Children_field as a jumping-off point for the multiple times this has been discussed in the past. Primefac (talk) 11:40, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Add extra space to "|works=" & "|publishers="

In Template:Infobox musical artist#For articles about musical groups, the default template thingo has extra spaces for every other category. So by default, it appears like this

|genre = foo

|works =bar

|years_active = baz

and

|label = foo

|publishers =bar

|spinoffs = baz

and the same goes for publishers in Template:Infobox musical artist#For articles about individuals

Could extra spaces be added so that it is uniform across all params? JordyGrey talk🧸 02:53, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

When I copy and paste the example template, I get:
{{Infobox musical artist
| background      = group_or_band
| name            =
| image           =
| image_size      =
| image_upright   =
| landscape = <!-- yes, if wide image, otherwise leave blank -->
| alt             =
| caption         =
| alias           =
| origin          =
| genre           =
| works           =
| years_active    = <!-- {{Start date|YYYY}}–{{End date|YYYY}} (or –present) -->
| label           =
| publishers      =
| spinoffs        =
| spinoff_of      =
| current_members =
| past_members    =
| awards          =
| website         = <!-- {{URL|example.com}} or {{Official URL}} -->
| module          =
| module2         =
| module3         =
}}
which is all aligned on the = character. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:18, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
Never mind, I see what you are talking about. I have added the missing spaces so that when you copy and paste, you get one space after each = character. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:21, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
Thank you! :) JordyGrey talk🧸 07:40, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
I can see that you've fixed it, but there's nothing in the edit history? Have I accidentally done something with minor edits, lol? JordyGrey talk🧸 07:42, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
wow I dunno how you did it because it's definitely not in the edit history lol... I guess it doesn't really matter JordyGrey talk🧸 12:38, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
The documentation lives on a separate page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:26, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
Oh... Is that what the "transcluded from /doc" bit means?! :0 JordyGrey talk🧸 13:30, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
Exactly. "Transclusion" is when a page is included in another page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:47, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
