About me:
My name is Carolyn Herrera and I am an independent researcher, writer, and curator. My research often spotlights the global impact of local histories; I focus on (craft, design, and material) interchanges within the Americas. Previously, I served as the inaugural Curator of Ceramics and Glass at the Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Madison-Wisconsin; Contributing Editor of the Chipstone Foundation publication Material Intelligence; and Curatorial Fellow at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. I have a Master's Degree in History of Design and Curatorial Studies from Parsons School of Design and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
I am also from the Hudson Valley. More specifically, I was born and raised in Peekskill, New York, the traditional land of the Kitchawank and sister-city to Cuenca, Ecuador. Along with contributing to pages regarding craft and design history, I plan to add nuance to content regarding the Hudson Valley and Ecuador.
