And since they are non-free, there will never be a lot of images of this type because of WP:NFCCP. - Nominator's rationale: Recently created small category with overly broad scope. Gjs238 (talk) 13:48, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Delete This is conflating post-World War II Germany and the United States after the American Civil War. There is no reason to join these two topics because they have been called by the same name or at least a similar name. This is two distinct topics, that might be two points in a much larger general topic, but I am not convinced that is as it stands is anything other than a violation of the rule against categorizing things by shared name.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:11, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Delete or Disambiguate Alternatively, we could use a Template:Category disambiguation here since these are different things with the same name, but regardless this should definitely not be a parent category. - RevelationDirect (talk) 18:45, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per Johnpacklambert. Possibly leave a redirect to Category:Reconstruction era. There are no other categories to be redirected to, as far as I can see, so a category disambiguation page will not work. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:57, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Delete This is almost a case of WP:SHAREDNAME. There's absolutely nothing relating the Reconstruction era in the US with the reconstruction of Germany post WWII. The former's name is almost a metaphor, whereas the latter is quite literally a reconstruction of damaged buildings and infrastructure. Moreover, Dutch annexation of German territory after the Second World War looks out of scope. I don't think a redirect to Category:Reconstruction era is needed. - Nominator's rationale The opening sentence of District attorney says "In the United States, a district attorney (DA), county attorney, county prosecutor, state attorney, state's attorney, prosecuting attorney, commonwealth's attorney, or solicitor is the chief prosecutor or chief law enforcement officer representing a U.S. state in a local government area, typically a county or a group of counties." So there are seven different terms (8 if you count state attorney and state's attorney as different). We have one article on the concept, we should have one category for it (with sub-cats by state as needed). We should match the main article. I live in Michigan, where we always call these people the "county prosecutor" or just "prosecutor" not ever the "district attorney". Sort of like we have a secretary of state's office, not a DMV (the secretary of state handles some things other DMVs do not, but the vast majority of Michigan resident interactions with the secretary of state's office relate to things that in many other states are handled by the DMV). However the term "state attorney" is even less used in Michigan than in some states. I do not think Category:District attorneys and county attorneys and state attorneys and prosecuting attorneys and county prosecutors and commonwealth's attorneys would be a reasonable name, but that is the only way to make sure all states feel included.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:30, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

- Merge Category:British diplomats in East Asia to Category:Diplomats for the United Kingdom or other categories as applicable.
- Nominator's rationale in general career diplomats have assignments in their careers that end up placing them in lots of countries. Non-career diplomats are most often Ambassadors. If this category became a norm it would cause more Category clutter. In general we do not have these categories for even continents. The sub-continent here is not clearly defined. Many would say Mongolia is part of East Asia, some would include Vietnam, and the header might be excluding Taiwan.John Pack Lambert (talk) 11:07, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- Despite the header saying this is about China, Japan and Korea, one of the sub-cats is Ambassadors of the United Kingdom to Cambodia. So the header and contents are not in agreement suggesting that the meaning of East Asia is more ambiguous than I thought.John Pack Lambert (talk) 11:12, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- Agree in principle, this is a trivial intersection, but just delete, because articles are already deeper down in the tree of Category:Diplomats for the United Kingdom. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:27, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

- Update Since this category was originally nominated, the nominator has created five additional radio categories based on city limits: Category:Radio stations in Salt Lake City, Category:Radio stations in Charlottesville, Virginia, Category:Radio stations in Panama City, Florida, Category:Radio stations in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Category:Radio stations in Helena, Montana. Their creation is procedurally fine and I support having city cats so I have no objection to any of them per se, but I do find them confusing in the context of this nomination. I use CFD outcomes to help guide me with future category creation but I'm struggling to see a clear standard emerging. - RevelationDirect (talk) 11:42, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- I think in the case of broadcast media it does not make sense to have city categories. Due to the nature of broadcast media city limits are arbitrary lines that are not a good way to categorize the thing.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:34, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- While I respectfully disagree with it, your perspective has been very clear and consistent which I appreciate. RevelationDirect (talk) 18:31, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Having lived in Provo, Utah; Salt Lake City, Utah; Detroit, Michigan and Sterling Heights, Michigan and Ypsilanti, Michigan and Las Vegas, Nevada as well as some surrounding areas I would say this. In Detroit and Provo there is an actual common usage of "from Detroit" and "from Provo" that refers to only the city limits. Detroit there is also a competing usage that includes the whole area. In Salt Lake City and Las Vegas so much of the area at the city limits is unincorporated that people will say they live in those cities if they live outside the city, at least as long as the area where they actually live is not incorporated. So as a common usage in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas there is no common usage difference between metro area and city. There is in Detroit, but I still do not think the way broadcast media works it is a defining thing for broadcast media.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:01, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose. How is it redundant? No clear rationale has been given. This subcategory makes sense. Mclay1 (talk) 09:20, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose (as creator): Categorizing by metro/city is super common with categories, for instance with Category:Economy of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex/Category:Economy of Dallas. As long as both are well populated, I'm puzzled by the nomination especially since others favor merging the other way. - RevelationDirect (talk) 13:50, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- Merge metro not city matters.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:12, 9 May 2026 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: containerize. (non-admin closure) GoldRomean (talk) 22:28, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Propose containerizing Category:Religious terminology
- Nominator's rationale: containerize, the articles are not about terminology as a subject, they rather are articles about subjects in religion. Move articles to the root category if they aren't already somewhere else in the Religion tree. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:15, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

Rename per WP:C2C. Οἶδα (talk) 06:42, 16 June 2026 (UTC)- Delete, it is not a defining characteristic of books that they have been reprinted in this series. Can make a good list topic (don't know if it exists already), but shouldn't be a categõry. Fram (talk) 07:58, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per Fram. We don't categorize creative works by all the companies that reissued them. For example, in the case of The Criterion Collection: Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion/Log/2006_January_16#Category:Criterion_Collection, Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_August_20, Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2010_May_17, Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2019_December_17. Even the list article List of Criterion Collection releases was deleted per WP:NOTCATALOG. Οἶδα (talk) 06:55, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
- Delete, since this is a specific line/reissue and not the first one. Reprints can sometimes be defining (depending on circumstances/publisher) but this sort of line would not be. PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:00, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: To match Category:Histories of counties in the United States User:Namiba 02:28, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Merge or reverse merge, they are obviously duplicates. Currently in the tree of Category:Histories of counties in the United States, 14 subcategories use "History by county" and 9 use "Histories of counties". Marcocapelle (talk) 04:58, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
