To report an error in content currently or imminently to appear on Main Page, use the appropriate section below. Reports should contain:

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation using {{!xt}} of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible using {{xt}}.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 02:28 on 5 July 2026) and cannot be adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Actual errors only. Failures of subjective criteria such as taste or interestingness, or failure to divert enough DYK readers to articles that aren't new or recently improved, are not errors.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Today's FA

The blurb states that the Liberty Bell today is located across the street from the Liberty Bell Center. The article says that the Liberty Bell today is located across the street from Independence Hall in the Liberty Bell Center. I'm far from an expert here, but the article's version appears to be correct. Jay8g [VTE] 19:04, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Indeed;  fixed. TechnoSquirrel69 (talk) 19:12, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Current DYK

  • I've been on mobile the last couple days, and while we debated on DYKT whether the Tyrell Fortune hook fits into the U.S. independence special set (which ship appears to have sailed), I did not actually look closely at the hook claim until now. The hook says he came back from the dead, which in the article is rendered as He was briefly pronounced dead at the hospital, but managed to completely recover and continued his career. This is not independently supported by the three sources. In ESPN, Fortune himself describes himself as being pronounced dead (That is when they actually pronounced me dead); the Sporting News also attributes the claim to Fortune (He said he had been pronounced dead); the New Zealand Herald describes it as a near-death experience and again attributes the "pronounced dead" claim to Fortune. A fourth source used for the resumption of his career (a Fox News-sourced article states the "pronounced dead" claim but that article's main source is Fortune's first-person ESPN article in which he appears to have originally made the claim of being pronounced dead. As for the claim itself, it seems implausible since being "pronounced dead" involves a formal death certificate being issued, the reversal of which is an arduous and public process, but first-person claims in sports news outlets are not really the place to adjudicate whether legal death took place or whether a resurrection occurred, as indicated by the hook. I believe the hook and article need to be rewritten at a minimum to attribute the "back from the dead" claim to Fortune instead of rendering it in wikivoice. • Can you think of a good way the hook could be reworded if that's the case? BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:56, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
At present, not one that's both hooky and accurate. Dclemens1971 (talk) 01:58, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
I've rephrased for the moment to "... that an All-American born on the Fourth of July claimed that he came back from the dead?" It's of dubious interestingness, but it's the best I can do to avoid a pull. I'd be happy to hear suggestions for improvement. TechnoSquirrel69 (talk) 04:36, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
Should we change "claimed" to just "said" per MOS:CLAIM? Helpful Cat🐈(talk) 05:26, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
      Definitely. Changed.—Bagumba (talk) 05:40, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
I don’t think this fixes the error. The sources say Fortune said he was pronounced dead, with the implication that this was an erroneous pronouncement since he didn’t actually die. (He says in the ESPN source that he “woke up”.) They don’t say he believes or said that he died and was resurrected. The way the hook has been rewritten could be a BLP violation since it attributes a sentiment to Fortune the sources don’t support. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:05, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
The ESPN source contains the quote "I knew I was dead. I could feel that when I woke up.", which is why I went with that phrasing. TechnoSquirrel69 (talk) 16:11, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Four of the five images on the main page right now pertain to the DoI, so I don't see how this alludes to an error, let alone what should be done about it. Left guide (talk) 05:55, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
Apples and pears. It would be better to say that rules are broken exclusively when the content is related to the US. Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0) 16:45, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Would we consider adding John Adams' death? I know there are only four slots but I just saw two people fit into one slot yesterday, and I think the fact that Jefferson and Adams died on the same day is an interesting and fairly well-established piece of US history trivia -- though admittedly it was coincidental rather than one event. (I posted this on Wikipedia_talk:Selected_anniversaries/July_4 instead of here, because this is not an error, but was told to come here instead.) Andaphantie (talk) 03:55, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
