Suspected sockpuppets

  • DannyofMarch: This single-issue account was created on this March and created a sandbox related to Olivier Uwishema article at the very same day (the content was later transferred to Oli Health Magazine Organization); seemingly having a simple, undeclared conflict of interest. Since then, most of their edits have been on Olivier Uwishema (1, 2)) the most recent (1) being just four days after I introduced a "primary sources" tag to the article in question - and which I believe its removal was unjustified, but that's a different matter which could be solved via undisruptive means. I had not submitted this report out of spite.

I have had left a welcome message, assuming good faith; but had my suspicions about sockpuppetry severely heightened once I checked the page history. There are two anonymous editors between the last two edits (1-2), editing the same sentences as DannyofMarch (Special:Contributions/~2026-17469-89). But this is far from significant (the user could have just unintentionally logged out), however it is not the only case as I elaborate below:

    • Yupspoet: Another single-issue user. Four edits at the date of creation (last August), two in Diana Award (1, 2) and two in Olivier Uwishema (3 article.
    • Ndahiro derrick was blocked in an unrelated investigation this May, but he also edited Diana Award and Olivier Uwishema.

My reasoning is per editing behaviour with listed socks in question, both immediately being familiar with the Wikisyntax. In the case that they are a puppet of the user in question, there is a likelihood that DannyofMarch and Yupspoet are related and the behaviour narrowly fits in disruptive editing (but, the user could have had simply lost their access to the account or they are just two natural users with unrelated history but similar interests). If Ndahiro derrick and 1OutstandingSeason are related to the situation, 1OutstandingSeason certainly is (according to behavioural evidence), then there is a tag team activity going on and such accounts are used for low-on-the-radar paid editing. Therefore a SPI check must be done to avoid any false allegations, and after that I would submit a CoIN report. ahmetlii  (Please ping me on a reply!) 15:50, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

@Asilvering Diff 1 and 2 made such an impression on me. However, checking the said user's contribs again; it seems clear that it was probably unrelated given the sheer amount of edits on the topics about Rwanda in order to give an appearance of legitimacy. Best regards and thanks for the gentle notification regarding the strike solidarity, which I was not aware of, ahmetlii  (Please ping me on a reply!) 11:34, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
