Typofixing in unordered lists (following asterisks)
The section #AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) says "Typo fixing is prevented within: <...> any text that follows a colon or asterisk". This clearly used to be the case, as discussed in previous topics such as Archive 3#AWB avoids too many areas that contain typos. However, when testing this with AWB 6.4.0.0, it does seem to correct typos in text following an asterisk. I prefer this behavior, but I am wondering if the Wikipedia page is wrong or whether I'm missing something in AWB's settings. Larswijn (talk) 18:18, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- This documentation reference appears to have been around since 2007, so perhaps the asterisk and colon usage was different 19 years ago? David Brooks may like to like to comment? (Reedy hasn't been around for a while). Neils51 (talk) 12:07, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Reedy does respond from time to time, but I can check the code history some time. David Brooks (talk) 03:44, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
An NZ
The typo list currently changes "a NZ" to "an NZ" which is correct, but I've just found an exception to this rule: changing "a NZ$420 million" to "an NZ$420 million" is incorrect, because it's pronounced" a $420 million New Zealand dollar ..." or just "a $420 million dollar ...". Could someone fix this please? ―Panamitsu (talk) 21:22, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- This error is still being made so I would appreciate it if someone could fix it. I'm not sure how to do it myself. It should change "an NZ$" to "a NZ$". Panamitsu ✨ 11:00, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
- Modify to exclude "a NZ$". Neils51 (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2026 (UTC).
- Modify to change "an NZ$" to "a NZ$" Neils51 (talk) 07:01, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Panamitsu and Neils51: Won't the a/an choice depend on the number that follows? "an NZ$8 million project" is read as "an eight million New Zealand dollar project", so "an" is correct in this case. -- John of Reading (talk) 13:09, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
ʘ
It might be worth adding "Mʘ" and "Lʘ" as typos for "M☉" and "L☉", respectively. See . 1234qwer1234qwer4 01:50, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Brittanica
"Brittanica" currently has 165 results and probably most should be "Britannica". (Will fix a subset of these for now.) 1234qwer1234qwer4 19:11, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
City of London
@Phuzion made edits to articles that changed City to city. Usually this would be correct, but in the case of the City of London, City is actually the name of the place and therefore it has a capital letter. (Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Capital_letters#City_of_London). Is there a way to capture this and prevent these automated edits from happening? Turini2 (talk) 11:52, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- For anyone investigating: The diffs are here and here. Thanks @Turini2 for pointing this out! phuzion (talk) 12:07, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
