Purpose of this index?
How comprehensive or up to date is this page, really? It seems like a gargantuan task, and I'm not sure what the clear benefit is, since when trying to find a page, it's almost always easier to just search the Wikipedia namespace. I'd suggest either finding a way to automate the maintenance of this page, or just marking it as historical and abandoning it. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 08:50, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
Sdkb, I concur. I encountered this page while seeking resources to support a WikiProject. Many links were themselves historical, or should have been. I contemplated updating that section based on my recent experience but decided there were other better sources already. —¿philoserf? (talk) 08:55, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
The benefit for me is that it helps me find things that I didn't know to search for. I often come to this page, pick a random letter, and scan the list; I almost always learn about something that I didn't know was a thing. It's also helpful for finding a specific page about a subject that has a lot of related pages, as the search box dropdown is so literal. Schazjmd(talk) 13:48, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
@Schazjmd: if you are still using this page, feel free to delete lines with obsolete links. – FayenaticLondon 10:27, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
Just hope you're doing this all over.... Many of the help pages are set up so that there is a TOC in the old skin... As well as the new skin in both mobile and desktop view what you're adding causes two TOC to appear in all three viewsScreenshot of two table of contents in mobile viewMoxy🍁 14:35, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
Of course I read it..... and clearly a misunderstanding of how this functions - can you not see the image? Moxy🍁 14:43, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
Your new edit fixed it, thanks. I it seems was misled by the template's /doc. FaviFake (talk) 16:12, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
Reference needed under translations for how to provide a gloss of a non-English sentence
Please add a link under Translation to the preferred technique for providing a gloss of a non-English sentence. I will seek help at the help area, but it would be good for there to be a link to that information in this index.
I'm talking about where a non-English sentence is presented in multiple sequential lines of text.
The original text, with words separated to line up with the grammatical breakdown
A grammatical breakdown of each element in the original text, lined up with the element it refers to
(optional) Transliteration of the original text
(optional) IPA of the original text
Literal translation of the original text
Plain English translation of the original text
It would also be good to add a Gloss section to the index which includes a link to this reference.
@ColinFine informed me that the {{Interlinear}} template serves this function, so I've added it to the index at what I believe to be appropriate places. Thisisnotatest (talk) 05:50, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
