Archive.today links are going bye-bye - How to help within this project
In case you haven't found out already, the Wikipedia community has decided to remove or replace Archive.today (and related) archive links used in citations within the Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:archive.today guidance for details. To help with this endeavor, I have created two project reports that show where these links are within our project:
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Illinois/Archive.today
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Illinois/CiteMaint (find entries with "CS1 maint: deprecated archival service" in the last column)
Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! the Stefen 𝕋ower 01:01, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas
Project members are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to $2680 in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:06, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Project updates and fixes (through May 16, 2026)
Here's the latest updates and fixes I have completed for WikiProject Illinois:
- New reports (click on each to learn more):
- Archive.today and CiteMaint (announced earlier)
- Signed up the project to have CleanupWorklistBot build a weekly-updated list of tagged cleanup issues for it.
- Now showing drafts in the assessments table.
- Added assessment related info/stats to front page and assessments page, reducing size of table on the latter.
- Had the project template revised so that Category:WikiProject Illinois articles is filled in with all our included pages like what is done for most other projects.
- Created new project category for the project's reports.
I hope you enjoy the updates. Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas for other improvements. the Stefen 𝕋ower 05:31, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Bruce David Janu

The article Bruce David Janu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability concerns for almost 12 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Insufficiently sourced BLP. Created by SPA with 57 edits, and extensively edited by the subject himself and his students, one of whom literally asked for bribes in the edit summary. The only claim to notability is creating a "Frank Sinatra Detention Club" that is a one-news-cycle incident.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 03:14, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
