Andrew Claude Henry Salmon (born March 1989), known professionally as Adjani Salmon, is a British-Jamaican actor, screenwriter and director.[1] He co-created and starred in the BBC Three series Dreaming Whilst Black (2021–2025). He has won a British Academy Television Award among other accolades.
Early life
Salmon was born in North London and grew up in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Salmon initially studied architecture. He later graduated with a Master of Arts (MA) in Directing from MetFilm School.[2]

Salmon initially co-created Dreaming Whilst Black with his friends as a web series based on his own experience trying to break into the film and television industry. The web series was released in 2018 and screen at film festivals. A television pilot for Dreaming Whilst Black aired in 2021, followed by the full first series in 2022 on BBC Three.[4][5]
which won the Royal Television Society 2022 Breakthrough Award,[6] 2022 BAFTA Craft Award for Emerging Talent: Fiction, Screen International Star of Tomorrow: Filmmaker award and the Soho House 59% Gen Now Award.[7]
Also in 2022, Salmon guest starred alongside Aisling Bea in the Doctor Who special episode "Eve of the Daleks" and had a role as Aston in the 2022 Channel 4 comedy-drama Chivalry. He has an upcoming role in the ITVX series Saviour.
