Ado-Baba Ahmed is a Nigerian academic, professor of entomology and forensic science at Kaduna State University (KASU)[1][2][3], he also works at the Department of Biology, University of The Gambia[4]. He specialises in medical entomology, Vector control, parasitology and forensic entomology.[5] He was appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University from 16th September 2016 until 24th January 2017. [6][7]
Education and Career
Ahmed obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biology from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, in 1984, a Master of Science degree in 1993 from the same institution and completed PhD at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria[5]. He spent about two decades working with the Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research (NITR) under Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Science and Technology as Chief Research Scientist in 2001, his work focused on the vectors of trypanosomiasis and onchocerciasis in Nigeria and other African countries. He joined the academia in 2005 and rose to became a Professor of Entomology.[5]
Ahmed engaged in research on insects with his current research focus in Forensic Entomology. He is a fellow of Zoological Society of Nigeria (FZSN), a member of the Parasitology and Public health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), International Organization for Biological Control of Noxious Animals and Plants (IOBC) and International Society for Pest Information (ISPI)[5]
