2025 special election
Tordillos ran in the 2025 special election for the District 3 seat on the San Jose City Council. The election was held to fill the seat vacated by former councilmember Omar Torres.[5]
In the April 2025 special election, Tordillos finished second and advanced to a runoff against Gabby Chavez-Lopez. His advancement followed a recount for second place between Tordillos and Matthew Quevedo.[6]
During the runoff, KQED described the race as focused on housing and public safety.[7] San José Spotlight reported that Mayor Matt Mahan endorsed Tordillos in the runoff.[8]
Tordillos defeated Chavez-Lopez in the June 24, 2025, special runoff election, receiving 5,355 votes, or 64.36%, to Chavez-Lopez's 2,966 votes, or 35.64%.[9] The County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters certified the results in July 2025.[2]
Tordillos was sworn into office on August 12, 2025.[10]
