Bronte Carmichael (born 24th October 2006) is a British film and television actress.
Career
Carmichael made her feature film debut in 2017 debut when she was nine years old as Young Girl On The Tube in Darkest Hour[1]. The same year she also played Chloe Morrell in On Chesil Beach written by Ian McEwan adapted for screen from his novel of the same name.[2]
In 2018, she starred alongside Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell in Christopher Robin as their daughter Madeline Robin.[3][4] The film directed by Marc Forster grossed over $197 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film in Disney's Winnie the Pooh franchise. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, who praised its performances, musical score, and visual effects receiving a nomination at the 91st Academy awards for Best Visual Effects.[5] McGregor said that Bronte's performance "is so natural"[6] a sentiment which Atwell shared, stating that she "embodied the character of Madeline with the same feel that the books had with Christoper Robin".[7]
Carmichael is the voice of Robin in Robin Robin.[8] The stop motion musical made by Aardman for Netflix was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film at the 94th Academy Awards,[9] The film was created and directed in Bristol by Mikey Please and Dan Ojari with a script they wrote with Sam Morrison.
In 2018 Carmichael played Skye D' Branin in Nightflyers. ; the American sci-fi horror series for Netflix based on George R.R Martin’s novella. The following year she appeared as Martha, one of Varys’s spies in Game of Thrones, (The Bells, Season 8)[10]. Carmichael appeared in Raised by Wolves directed by Ridley Scott. She played Young Biddy in Stephen Knight’s 2023 adaptation of Great Expectations for the BBC[11] and Julia in Paramount+ science fiction series Halo (season2)
In 2023 Carmichael joined the Star Wars franchise in the prequel series Andor created by Tony Gilroy as Leida Mothma the daughter of senator Mon Mothma played by Genevieve O’Reilly. She featured in 6 episodes in Season One and reprised her role in Season 2 for 3 episodes released in April 2025[12][13][14]
In 2025 it was announced that Carmichael had joined the cast of the gothic horror film The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands[15] directed Costa Rican-Swedish director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén as the daughter of a British widower played by Alexander Skaarsgard. The film is scheduled for release in 2026.
Personal Life
Bronte Carmichael also goes by the name Bronte Carmichael-Sturrock. She is the daughter of actor Tristan Sturrock and actor director Katy Carmichael. She has two siblings, a brother and a sister and lives in Bristol UK.
