Carlo Capua (born December 24, 1977) is an American civic leader and nonprofit executive based in Fort Worth, Texas. He has served in leadership roles in local government, philanthropy, and international cultural diplomacy, including as Chair of the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International.
Early life and education
Capua was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended St. Andrew Catholic School and Western Hills High School before studying marketing and Japanese at Texas Christian University, graduating in 2000. He later earned a master's degree in international relations from the Harvard Extension School, where he received the Derek Bok Public Service Prize for community service work during the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
Career
After graduating from Texas Christian University, Capua participated in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme in Nagaoka, Japan. He later taught at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Toluca, Mexico.
In 2008, Capua and his mother founded Z's Café, a Fort Worth restaurant and social enterprise that employed individuals in recovery and transition from homelessness.[2] The business closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
In 2021, Capua joined the City of Fort Worth as deputy chief of staff to Mayor Mattie Parker. In 2022, he was appointed the city's first Chief of Strategy and Innovation.[4]
In 2025, Capua joined the Rainwater Charitable Foundation as Senior Principal.[5]
Civic leadership
Capua served as president of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth from 2020 to 2021 and as president of the Texas Christian University National Alumni Board from 2015 to 2017. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International.[6]
