Casper Canada
Casper Canada is a Canadian subsidiary of Sleep Country Canada that sells mattresses, pillows, bedding, bed frames, and other accessories. It operates retail stores in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax, and also sells online through casper.ca and through Sleep Country Canada's stores.
Casper Canada was established in 2023 following Sleep Country Canada's acquisition of the Canadian operations of Casper Sleep Inc., a direct-to-consumer mattress company originally founded in the United States in 2014.
History
Casper Sleep Inc. (2014–2023)
Casper Sleep Inc. was founded in 2014 in New York City as a direct-to-consumer mattress company. The company sold mattresses compressed and packaged in boxes for home delivery, a format that had been used by earlier companies but that Casper brought to wider consumer awareness in North America.
Casper Sleep Inc. conducted an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in February 2020.[1]. The company faced ongoing financial losses in subsequent years[2].
Acquisition by Sleep Country Canada (2023)
In 2023, Sleep Country Canada acquired the Canadian operations of Casper Sleep Inc., establishing Casper Canada as a distinct subsidiary[3].
Following the acquisition, Casper Canada continued to operate under the Casper brand name in Canada, with Sleep Country Canada assuming responsibility for its retail and e-commerce operations.
