DYXX-TV (VHF channel 6)[1] is a television station in Iloilo City, Philippines, owned and operated by GMA Network, Inc. Its broadcast facilities along are located at the GMA Iloilo Complex, Phase 5, Alta Tierra Village, Jaro, Iloilo City,[2] with transmission facilities mainly at Piña-Jordan-Alaguisoc Road, Jordan, Guimaras, sharing with Barangay LS 93.5 (DYMK-FM).[3][4][5]

History

  • 1967 - DYXX-TV Channel 6 was launched by the Associated Broadcasting Corporation (now TV5) until Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law in September 1972.
  • 1984 - Channel 6 was reopened and became an affiliate station of Republic Broadcasting System under The Asian-Pacific Broadcasting Company, Inc.
  • February 1987 – DYXX-TV upgrading into an originating station with its first local newscast Banat as a local version of GMA Balita.
  • November 12, 1990 - The station's broadcast complex was badly damaged by flood after Typhoon Ruping (international name: Typhoon Mike) made a landfall in Iloilo City. The station's transmitter also collapsed, rendering GMA TV-6 and radio stations DYMK-FM and DYXX-AM (now DYSI-AM) inoperable for a short period. All television and radio operations were resumed after a month when a new transmitter in Jordan, Guimaras was constructed.
  • September 2007 - The new studio building and outside broadcasting facilities in MacArthur Road, Jaro, Iloilo City, were inaugurated.[7]
  • November 13, 2015 - 20 employees of GMA Iloilo were retrenched from the news department as part of the strategic streamlining undertaken by the network, cancelling Arangkada and Ratsada 24 Oras. The station is now downgraded as a relay station.[8]
  • August 27, 2018 - GMA Iloilo reupgrades back to an originating station with the launching of regional newscast One Western Visayas,[9] simulcasting via GMA TV-13 Bacolod, and 5 regional stations.
  • September 2019 - GMA Iloilo upgrades its 15 kW transmitter in Guimaras spending ₱63.79 million.[6]
  • June 29, 2020 - GMA Iloilo temporarily took over the broadcast of GMA Cebu, merging One Western Visayas with Balitang Bisdak airing via GMA TV-7 Cebu and its relay stations due to the worsening COVID-19 crisis. The setup ended on July 10 that year.
  • August 2, 2021 - GMA Iloilo commenced digital test broadcasts on UHF Channel 29 covering the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras, spending GMA ₱8 million for the upgrade and installation.[6]
  • July 2023 - GMA Iloilo among the network's originating stations in the Philippines (outside GMA Manila) upgrades to its 16:9 widescreen format.[10]
