Efrat "Effie" Epstein (Hebrew: אפרת אפשטיין; born May 9, 1983) is an Israeli business woman and entrepreneur. She is the managing partner and COO of Sound Ventures founded by Ashton Kutcher.[1][2][3]
Biography
Early years
Effie Epstein was born in 1983 in Be'er Sheva, Israel to Lea and Chanan Epstein, a senior executive at Amdocs. She is the sister of Roni and Asaf Epstein, a movie producer and director.[1] When Effie was 12, the family relocated to Dallas.[1]
Education
Epstein studied at The University of Texas in Austin where she received her BBA in Finance.[1] Between 2009 and 2011, Epstein completed her MBA at Harvard Business School.[1]
Career
In 2005, Epstein began her career working for the wealth management firm Merrill Lynch in Houston.[1] From 2007 to 2009, Epstein worked as a strategy associate at the New York Stock Exchange.[1] From 2011 to 2013, Epstein served as VP of Business Development and Strategy for the security identity company "CLEAR" and later went on to serve as SVP of Planning and Head of Investor Relations for iHeart Media from 2013 to 2016 and later as SVP of Head of Strategy and Planning at Marsh Insurance.[1]
In 2016, Epstein became managing partner and Chief Operations Officer at Sound Ventures, working alongside Ashton Kutcher.[2][1][3][4] For over a decade, Epstein, within her capacity at the firm has focused on funding AI companies and AI-related endeavors.[5][6][7]
