Farhad Farassat is an engineer and entrepreneur associated with developments in wire bonding technology and the semiconductor manufacturing industry. He is known for his role at F&K Delvotec.[1][2]
In 2001 he was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year prize in the industrial category.[3] In 2021, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) appointed him an honorary senator.[4]
Education
Farassat moved to Germany and studied at the Technical University of Munich, where he completed degrees in mechanical engineering and nuclear engineering.[1] He later obtained a doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin in 1997, focusing on bonding process control.[1]
Career
After completing his studies, Farassat worked in the field of microwelding and semiconductor manufacturing technology.[1]
In 1992, together with Said Kazemi, he acquired F&K Bondtechnik in a management buy-out from Black & Decker. The company subsequently operated under the name F&K Delvotec.[2] Under his leadership, the company developed wire bonding systems used in semiconductor production.[2]
In 2001, he received the Entrepreneur of the Year award in the industrial category.[3]
Philanthropy and university involvement
In later years, Farassat became involved in academic and philanthropic activities. He is listed among the private founders and donors of the TUM University Foundation and has served on its Board of Trustees.[5][6]
In 2021, the Technical University of Munich named him an honorary senator.[4]
Media reports have also described the establishment of the Dr. Farassat Foundation, which supports highly gifted individuals facing difficulties in education or professional life.[7][8]
