Georg Viktor (born 7 February 1953 in Ludwigshafen, Germany) is a German-born Italian sculptor based in Pietrasanta, Italy. He is known for figurative sculpture, primarily in Carrara marble, often drawing on classical and mythological themes.

Georg Viktor was born and raised in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany. In 1976 he graduated from the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Heidelberg-Mannheim. In 1978 he studied stone carving in the studio of sculptor Volker Dursy[1] in Ladenburg.

In 1979 Viktor moved to Pietrasanta, Italy, near the Carrara marble quarries, where he studied marble carving techniques at Studio F. Palla[2] and began working as a sculptor.

Since his first solo exhibition in Germany in 1981, Viktor has participated in numerous sculpture symposia and exhibitions in Europe and the United States. In 1996 his work was exhibited at the Louis K. Meisel Gallery in New York.[3]

Viktor works primarily in figurative sculpture and frequently references classical mythology and the human figure inspired by caryatids. He works mainly in Carrara marble, but also in bronze, sandstone, clay, and plaster.

According to cultural publications issued by the municipality of Pietrasanta, Viktor has been active in the artistic community of Pietrasanta since the late 1970s and is associated with the city’s sculptural tradition.[4]

Public collections

Works by Viktor are included in the permanent collection of the Museo dei Bozzetti Pierluigi Gherardi in Pietrasanta, Italy, a museum dedicated to modern and contemporary sculpture and housing works by international sculptors active in Pietrasanta.[5]

In 2026, Viktor's marble sculpture Minotaur, created during the Sylacauga Magic of Marble Festival in Alabama, entered the permanent collection of the B.B. Comer Memorial Library in Sylacauga, United States.[6] [7]

Public works

Several of Viktor's works are installed in public spaces in Germany and Italy, including Europa and the Bull in Leingarten,[8][9] the Stele für Osthofen near Osthofen railway station,[10] and Donatella at the Ludwig Reichert Haus in Ludwigshafen.[11]
