Gehna Sippy (born 11 October 2000) is an Indian actress, model and dancer who works primarily in Telugu cinema.[1][2] She made her Telugu film debut in Chor Bazaar (2022) opposite Akash Puri and later played the female lead in Gaalodu (2022) alongside Sudigali Sudheer.[3][4]

Early life and education

Sippy was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to Haresh Sippy and Neeta Sippy, and has an elder sister named Jayna Sippy.[5] She attended Loreto Convent School in Mumbai and completed a bachelor's degree in commerce at S.I.E.S. College in the city.[6][7] Before entering films, she worked as a dance teacher and professional model.[8]

Career

Sippy initially appeared in television commercials for brands such as Gillette Venus, Veggie Clean, Niyo Global and Clean & Clear, gaining visibility as a model.[9] She was one of the models featured in the "My South Diva 2020" calendar shoot held in Hyderabad.[10]

Sippy made her film debut in the Telugu-language romantic action film Chor Bazaar (2022), directed by Jeevan Reddy, in which she played the character Simran opposite Akash Puri.[11][12] In interviews given around the film's release, she said she learned Telugu specifically to work in Tollywood and described playing a mute girl in the movie as a challenging experience.[13]

Her second Telugu feature, Gaalodu (2022), directed by P. Rajasekhar Reddy, starred Sudigali Sudheer in the lead role, with Sippy as the female protagonist.[14][15] She has spoken in Telugu media about her experience working with Sudheer and her interest in continuing to act in commercial Telugu films.[16]

In addition to her Telugu films, Sippy has been credited with roles in the Hindi film Bachcha Gang (2024) according to trade databases.[17]

Personal life

Sippy grew up in Mumbai and has stated in interviews that she focused more on acting and dance than academics during her college years.[18] She is fluent in Hindi and English and learned Telugu to pursue opportunities in the Telugu film industry.[19]
