Girl Cologne is an American punk rock band from Cleveland, formed in 2021.

History

The members of Girl Cologne met through the School of Rock program in Cleveland during the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] The band began performing live in 2021.[2]

According to the band, the name "Girl Cologne" originated after guitarist Cade Cubbison forgot the word for perfume, and jokingly used the term "girl cologne" instead.[3] In 2023, the group released the single "My Baby" and performed at the Beachland Tavern in Cleveland.[4]

The band's debut single, "Let Me Know", was produced by Jim Wirt and released through Tragic Hero Records.[5] In 2023, the group released the single "My Baby" and performed at the Beachland Tavern in Cleveland.[6]

Girl Cologne has performed at venues and festivals throughout Northeast Ohio, including the Grog Shop, Mahall's, Beachland Ballroom, Musica, and PorchRokr Festival.[7]

Musical Style

Girl Cologne's music has been described as a blend of punk, grunge, and alternative rock with influences from 90s music. [8] Cool Cleveland described the band as "punk-influenced" and noted similarities to artists such as Mom Jeans, The Regrettes, and Peach Pit.[9]

Lead singer Jenna Seeman stated that "'Growing up, I would listen to Top 40 in my mom's car and 80's music in my dad's car, and what came out of that was a weird 90s thing?" The members have also stated taking inspiration from the pop-punk band Green Day.[10]
