Lourenco (Issac) Rodrigues Lindo (c. 1638 –1712) was a Portuguese-Jewish merchant, who settled in London in the 17th century. [1]
Life
He was born in Badajoz in 1638 to Joao Rodrigues Lindo and Constance Nunes. [2]
From 1653-56, he lived in London with his uncle Antonio Fernandez Carvajal.[3]
In 1656, he and his wife were arrested by the Inquisition in the Canary Islands and released after .[4]
In 1675, they settled in London and in 1681 he became a Sworn Broker on the Royal Exchange.[5] He was an elder of Bevis Marks and a signatory of the Ascamot of 1694.
He and his wife Perpetua Lopes had three children:
- Alexander (1666-1726) m Rachel Lopes Pereira
- Elias (1690-1727) m Rachel Lopes Fereira
- Constanza, who married Abraham Franco (1707) of Devonshire Square[6]
