Mahesh Gupta studied mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and worked at Indian Oil Corporation before starting his own business.[4]
According to The Economic Times and Business Standard, Gupta became interested in water purification after concerns about drinking water quality and the limitations of ultraviolet based purifiers available at the time.[5][1]
