Manjooran worked at Siemens AG for nearly a decade as part of the company's global leadership team.[4] During his tenure, he managed international collaborations and strategic development across the company's technology portfolio.[4]
In 2020, he became chairman of Solve, a company that provides research services addressing challenges in energy, industry, medicine, and infrastructure.[7]
Since 2010, Manjooran has served as a professor adjunct in materials science[8] and engineering at Virginia Tech.[5] He also serves as chairman of the advisory board for the Materials Science and Engineering Department and the College of Engineering at the University of Florida.[9][10]
ASM International
Manjooran has been active in ASM International, which describes itself as the world's largest materials professional society. He served on the board of trustees beginning in 2020, became senior vice president in 2023–2024, and assumed the presidency on October 1, 2024.[3]
He has co-organized more than 50 international symposia and more than 150 sessions for the society and other professional organizations.
Recognition
Manjooran is a fellow of seven professional technical and leadership societies, including ASM International,[11] the American Ceramic Society, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, and the Indian Institute of Metals. He has been inducted into four academic and leadership honor societies, including Alpha Sigma Lambda, Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Mu.
In April 2025, he was inducted into the Virginia Tech Hall of Fame - Virginia Tech Academy of Engineering Excellence, which has recognized only 190 graduates out of more than 82,000 living alumni and 250,000 total alumni of the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech.
Publication
Manjooran has authored or edited 12 books on advanced nanotechnology and materials, published by Wiley and the Royal Society of Chemistry.[12] His works include Nanofabrication and Its Application in Renewable Energy (Royal Society of Chemistry, 2014) and Advances in Energy Materials (Wiley, 2009).[13] He is listed as a co-inventor on U.S. Patent Application 20100068508 for an apparatus and method for monitoring wear of components.[14]
