Nine Isles Gin is a premium gin brand inspired by the flavours and culture of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the Caribbean. The brand produces small-batch gins infused with tropical Caribbean botanicals and fruits. It was conceptualised in SVG and is currently produced in the United Kingdom through a partnership with a small-batch distiller, with plans to establish local production in the future.[1][2]
History
Nine Isles Gin was founded by Kirk Da’Silva Jr, Cody Hickie and Rory Forward. Kirk Da’Silva Jr, a former professional tennis player from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, acts as a cultural ambassador for the islands. Cody Hickie and Rory Forward, both originally from the United Kingdom, relocated to the Caribbean and brought experience in project management and cross-cultural collaboration.[3][4]
The founders experimented with local and exotic botanicals in SVG to capture the essence of the nine inhabited islands of the archipelago. The company Nine Isles Gin Ltd was incorporated in the United Kingdom on 10 October 2023 as a private limited company specialising in the wholesale of alcoholic beverages.[5]
In November 2024 the brand received early international attention when it was included in Vogue's Winter Wishlist for the United Kingdom. Vogue described it as a premium brand that “captures the essence of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines” and is “crafted with fine botanicals and unique flavour infusions”, noting that “each sip delivers the authentic taste of the tropics”.[1]
The founders have stated their intention to bring a distillery to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the future.[1]
Products
Nine Isles produces handcrafted, small-batch Caribbean-infused gins bottled at 38.5% ABV in 70 cl formats. The main expressions are:
- Peach and Lychee Gin – A vibrant, sweet and refreshing gin featuring juicy peach and tropical lychee alongside juniper and other botanicals. Marketed for both classic serves and creative cocktails.[6]
- Sorrel and Mulberry Gin – Infused with tart sorrel (Caribbean roselle/hibiscus) and sweet mulberry. Tasting notes include fresh citrus peel, earthy botanical spice, floral notes and sweet tropical fruit.[7]
The gins are positioned as true distilled spirits rather than flavoured alternatives.
Production and sustainability
Production takes place in small batches using sustainable and eco-conscious practices with responsibly sourced natural ingredients. The brand currently partners with a small-batch distiller (outside SVG) while maintaining its conceptual and inspirational roots in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The company emphasises supporting small-business innovation and producing only what is needed.[2][1]
Reception and availability
Nine Isles Gin is available in the United Kingdom through retailers including Tesco, Master of Malt, Amazon and specialist drinks merchants. It has also been served in Saint Vincent, including at venues such as 360 Sports Bar. Early customer feedback on retail platforms has been positive, particularly regarding its performance in gin and tonics and cocktails.[7]
