Nisum Technologies, Inc. is a privately held global technology consulting and engineering company headquartered in Brea, California, United States. The company was founded in 2000 by Imtiaz Mohammady, who had previously been involved with e-Toys during the dot-com era. It provides digital transformation, platform modernization, data and cloud solutions, and applied artificial intelligence.[1][2]
History
Nisum was founded in 2000 by Imtiaz Mohammady in Brea, California. Mohammady had been part of e-Toys, a startup that competed with Amazon and eBay during the dot-com era, and founded Nisum to help large brick-and-mortar retailers transition to digital platforms. The company initially focused on technology consulting and software development, with an emphasis on building and operating off-site delivery centers for enterprise clients.[3][1]
In 2012, Nisum began operations in Santiago, Chile, its first expansion into Latin America. In 2015, the company launched NoiseGrasp, an internal analytics initiative. It subsequently acquired Adroit Resources in 2016 and Ki Teknology in 2017, broadening its delivery capabilities across North America and Latin America.[1]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company provided pro bono technology support in Chile related to virtual healthcare delivery, contributing to platform enhancements and automated billing for telemedicine services. The work was cited by public investment organizations as an example of private-sector support during the health crisis.[4]
By the mid-2020s, Nisum had expanded to 11 offices across seven countries, with operations in the United States and Canada, additional offices in Chile, Colombia, and Peru, and delivery centers in India and Pakistan.[5][6]
The company entered a partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, owner of franchises including the Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, and Washington Capitals, as part of a focus on data and analytics in the sports and entertainment sector.[7]
In 2025, Nisum marked its 25th anniversary[2][8] and announced partnerships with Applied AI Consulting and DeepSpace Technology to support enterprise AI adoption, and with Finerio Connect to help financial institutions in Latin America implement open finance solutions.[9][10][11][12] Regional business press covered the company's Latin American expansion and its founder's views on the region's role in applied AI.[13][14]
Awards and recognition
In 2019, Nisum was named Best Tech Workplace for Diversity at the Timmy Awards, presented by Tech in Motion.[15] In 2020, the Nisum Blockchain Lab was among the winners of the BIG Innovation Awards, administered by the Business Intelligence Group.[16] In 2022, the company was named Best Global Digital Commerce Consulting Firm by Corporate Vision.[17]
