Rzeszowskie Juwenalia is a two-day student festival held annually in Rzeszów, in the Subcarpathia region in Poland. The date of the event varies, but it always takes place in May. The festival is a joint initiative of local universities in Rzeszów, including the Rzeszów University of Technology, the University of Rzeszów, and the Higher School of Practical Studies and Academy in Rzeszów. The event is widely regarded as one of the largest student music festivals in the country, often attracting over 40,000 visitors a day from all over Poland.[1]

Traditions and events

The festival traditionally kicks off with a colorful student parade that starts at Rzeszów's Main Square and ends at the festival grounds. It is a tradition for the mayor of Rzeszów to hand over the key to the city to the students each year, and those participating often create and wear creative costumes or masks. As they make their way to the event venue the grounds of the Rzeszów University of Technology they are accompanied by loud music and good fun.[2]

The main part of the festival takes place on the campus of the Rzeszów University of Technology; due to the number of performing artists, three different stages have been set up. The first is the main stage, known as ScenaPRZ, which features primarily guitar bands and classical Polish music, though it also includes contemporary vocalists familiar from the radio. The second stage, known as ScenaBrend, is dominated by Polish rap and hip-hop, while the third is ScenaBunkier, where electronic and club music reign supreme. Over the years, the festival has hosted prominent Polish musicians, ranging from rock bands such as Kult, Enej, and Lady Pank to hip-hop artists including PRO8L3M, Gibbs, and Kizo.[3]

Awards and honors

The Rzeszów Student Festival has gained nationwide recognition for its scale and organization. The event has won the Polish Student Parliament's "ProJuvenes" National Poll four times for the best student festival in Poland, receiving awards in 2014, 2018, 2023, and 2025[4]. According to the eBilet ticketing website, the festival ranked among the top three most popular music festivals featuring Polish artists.[5]
