Slater High School is a former school for African American students in Bristol, Tennessee that now houses the Slater Community Center.[1] It was open from 1955 to 1965.[2]
Dorsey Sims Jr. coached basketball at the school from 1960 to 1965.[3] Students were integrated into Tennessee High School in 1965.[4]
The building was also used for Bristol Sullivan Technical School. The 30 story plus minute film Dear Slater was produced by BTN-TV in the Bristol's Department of Community Relations. The building includes a gym and the 208 seat Wyatt Auditorium named for Slater's former principal Lorenzo Wyatt.[5]
