Kim Su-noo (Korean: 김선우; born June 24, 2003), known mononymously as Sunoo,[2] is a South Korean singer. He is a member of the boy band Enhypen under Belift Lab, formed through the reality survival show I-Land in 2020.

Early life and education

Sunoo was born on June 24, 2003, in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi, South Korea. At age seven, he moved to Suwon, where he spent his formative years.[3] In 2022, he graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School, alongside fellow members Jay and Jungwon.[4]

Sunoo has an older sister. As a child, he developed an interest in performing by singing and dancing with her. Despite his parents' initial preference for him to focus on his studies, Sunoo pursued his interest in becoming an idol, eventually quitting cram school in the ninth grade to focus on his auditions.[5]

Career

Pre-debut

Sunoo began auditioning for entertainment agencies in the eighth grade. His initial audition was unsuccessful due to vocal changes during puberty.[5] He eventually passed an audition for Belift Lab after performing "Growl" by EXO.[6] Prior to appearing on I-Land, he trained for ten months.

2020–present: I-Land and debut with Enhypen

On June 1, 2020, Sunoo was introduced as a contestant on the survival reality show I-Land.[7] In the final episode, he placed eighth in the global vote but was selected by the producers to join the final seven-member lineup of Enhypen.[8] The group officially debuted on November 30, 2020, with the extended play (EP) Border: Day One.[6]

In July 2021, Sunoo appeared on the EBS television show The Best Cooking Secrets alongside chef Park Eun-young.[9] In early 2022, he served as a regular DJ for the EBS Radio show Listen with Jungwon.[10]

In 2026, Sunoo took on several special hosting roles, including serving as a special MC for MBC's Show! Music Core in February and Mnet's M Countdown in January.[11][12]

Other ventures

Ambassadorship

In July 2025, Sunoo was appointed as a global ambassador for the fashion brand 8seconds.[13] He launched the "ENHYPEN SUNOO’s Summer Record" campaign, which included promotional video content and events at the brand's store in Manila.[13]

Philanthropy

Sunoo has made significant contributions to medical and disaster relief causes. In December 2024, he donated ₩100 million to the Samsung Medical Center (SMC) to establish the "Patient Happiness Fund".[14] He followed this with a further donation of ₩50 million to the same hospital in 2025 to support pediatric patients.[14] In March 2025, he donated ₩30 million to the Korea Disaster Relief Association to assist victims of forest fires in the Gyeongsang region.[15] For these efforts, he was honored with the Foreign Minister's Award at the 2025 Korea Social Contribution Awards.[16]
