Synopsis

The Art of War states: "Warfare is the Way of Deception." It also says: "Military tactics are not constant, just as water has no constant shape; to be able to adapt to the enemy's changes and achieve victory is called divine skill."

During Zhuge Liang's Northern Expeditions launched by Shu Han against rival Cao Wei, a formidable and cunning spy infiltrated the very heart of Shu Han. Upon receiving word of this intrusion, the Shu Han Bureau of Internal Security mobilized swiftly, casting a vast, inescapable net. A thrilling intelligence war unfolds in the darkness, untold by history... In an era of division and constant warfare, the fates of two seemingly insignificant figures on a secret intelligence network—Chen Gong (Chen Kun) and Xun Xu (Bai Yu)—rise dramatically. Their unwavering brotherhood shines brightly amidst the suspenseful espionage, weaving a legendary tale of heroism.[8]

ActorCharacterIntroduction
Chen KunChen GongCao Wei: Registrar of Tianshui Commandery / Shu Han: Elite Field Agent of the Bureau of Intelligence → Shu Han: Director of the Western Office, Bureau of Intelligence / Cao Wei: Elite Field Agent of the Bureau of Counter-Intelligence

Age: 26. An ace spy for Shu Han's military intelligence network—the Bureau of Intelligence—infiltrating the state of Cao Wei under the codename "White Emperor." He is the sworn brother of Xun Xu, bound by a solemn oath of brotherhood. Outwardly, he appears to be a dashing rake—a dissolute and unbridled playboy—but in reality, he is quick-witted, agile, and possessed of an unyielding will. Due to a manipulation of intelligence by "Red Emperor"—or rather, "Torch Dragon"—he fell under suspicion by the Shu Han high command. Forced to fake his own death and assume a new identity, he went undercover within the Five Immortals Sect in a bid to unmask "Red Emperor," a mission that led to his reunion with his wife, Zhai Yue. However, in her haste to acquire intelligence regarding "Torch Dragon," Zhai Yue fell into a trap laid by Huang Yu; her cover was blown, and she took her own life in his arms. With the covert assistance of Xun Xu, he succeeded in capturing the first "Torch Dragon," earning a promotion to the rank of Director of the Western Office and formally assuming leadership of the Bureau of Intelligence. Later, he feigned allegiance to Li Yan—though in truth, he was acting on behalf of Yang Yi to neutralize this political rival—and thereby gained the trust of Guo Huai. He serves as the pivotal linchpin in Shu Han's counter-strategy against Cao Wei's "Green Duckweed Project," and is, in fact, the second "Torch Dragon."

Bai YuXun XuShu Han Siwencao, Jing'an Division (Counter-espionage): Deputy Commandant → Commandant of the Jing'an Division → Envoy to Eastern Wu (to establish a new intelligence network).

Aged 28, he hails from a family that has served for generations as secret agents for the Zhuge clan. A veteran of the Jingzhou naval forces, he is responsible for internal counter-espionage, criminal apprehension, and security operations within the Siwencao. He is the cousin of Zhai Yue—Chen Gong's wife—as well as Chen Gong's sworn brother through a solemn pact; moreover, he was the one who personally recommended Chen Gong for entry into the Siwencao. When Li Miao framed Feng Ying, he assisted Feng Ying in escaping prison in a quest to uncover the truth. Later, while exchanging intelligence with Zhai Yue, they were tracked by "Zhulong"; this incident indirectly led to Huang Yu suspecting his true identity, ultimately resulting in his cover being blown. To exonerate Chen Gong of treason charges, he coordinated from within the organization to help conceal Chen Gong's feigned death; subsequently, while assisting Chen Gong in capturing "Zhulong," he endured brutal torture that left him permanently disabled in his lower limbs. Upholding the creed passed down to him by Zhuge Liang—that "a single human life is worth ten thousand pieces of gold"—he remained steadfast in his determination to unmask "Zhulong," the Cao Wei spy lurking within Shu Han. Consequently, he became entangled in the "Counter-Qingping Plan"—a secret conspiracy orchestrated by Yang Yi, Feng Ying, Chen Gong, and others—and became a target whom both Cao Wei and Shu Han pressured Chen Gong to execute. Later, he traveled alongside Lin Liang to Eastern Wu to carry out their mission.
