Todd Weyman is an American print specialist, best known as a regular appraiser on Antiques Roadshow and as the longtime Director of Prints & Drawings at Swann Galleries.

Early life and education

Weyman's mother was an art lover who took him to museums from a young age, and his paternal grandfather was a major collector of Americana.[1] He attended Connecticut College, where a freshman seminar on print connoisseurship led him to pursue the field. After graduating, he earned a master's degree in art history from Williams College, studying print history and book illustration.[1]

Career

Curatorial work

After college, Weyman worked as a curatorial assistant at the Yale Center for British Art. He then joined the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, where he managed acquisitions and organized print exhibitions.[1]

Swann Galleries

In 1995, Weyman was hired by Swann Galleries to lead its Print department. He became Director of Prints & Drawings and later a Vice President of the company.[2][3] He organized around 250 auctions during the three decades he worked there, and oversaw multiple large-scale sales of 600–700 prints each. The department expanded to cover Old Master, 19th- and 20th-century, Contemporary, and American art.[2] During his tenure, Swann set several world-record auction prices for works on paper.[1] He retired in June 2024.[2]

Antiques Roadshow

Weyman has appeared as a print appraiser on Antiques Roadshow from 2007 to 2026.[1][4][5] He has appraised items ranging from Old Master prints to contemporary works, including a 1965 Roy Lichtenstein screenprint valued at $300,000,[1] a 1966 Lichtenstein screenprint on Rowlux valued at $20,000,[6] and a Zao Wou-Ki etching retrieved from a Yale University dumpster, valued at $10,000–$15,000.[7]
