Verasight (formerly Reality Check Insights) is an American survey research company founded in 2020 and based in Livingston, New Jersey.[1][2] The company operates an online research panel and conducts public-opinion and academic surveys.[3]
History
Verasight was founded in 2020 by Benjamin Leff and the political scientist Peter K. Enns, a professor at Cornell University.[4] The company was initially named Reality Check Insights and later operated as Verasight.[5] A 2020 Poets&Quants profile described it as a political-polling startup co-founded by Leff that aimed to reach respondents through social media in response to the long-term decline in telephone survey response rates.[2] At the time of a 2021 Cornell Chronicle profile, the company provided survey data to media organizations, researchers, political groups and companies, and counted the Los Angeles Times among its early clients.[1]
Methodology and services
Verasight recruits respondents to a proprietary online panel, which the company reports comprises more than 200,000 people in the United States.[3] The company states that it recruits panel members in-house using a combination of address-based sampling and online recruitment, and applies post-collection quality checks.[3] Verasight is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) Transparency Initiative, under which participating organizations agree to disclose specified information about how their surveys are conducted,[6] and it archives non-customer survey data at the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research.[7]
Polling and research collaborations
Verasight has supplied survey data used by news organizations and academic researchers.[8] In 2025 it began a recurring U.S. politics poll in collaboration with the elections analyst G. Elliott Morris and his publication Strength in Numbers.[9] For the 2025 elections, Verasight's Verified Panel was one of the sample sources for The Voter Poll, an election survey conducted by the research firm SSRS for ABC News, the Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News Media and NBC News.[10][11]
