YourLavaan is a British Sikh matrimonial platform and mobile application for Sikh singles seeking a life partner for marriage. It was founded by Harpreet Kaur and Jagjeet Singh and is based in London, United Kingdom. The platform is available on iOS and Android and serves members across the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia.[1]

History

YourLavaan was conceived in March 2020 by Harpreet Kaur and Jagjeet Singh following the closure of Gurdwaras across the United Kingdom during the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented Sikh places of worship from providing their traditional matrimonial services to the community. The founders developed a digital platform to allow Sikhs to continue searching for a life partner during and after the lockdown period.[1]

The mobile application was launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play, initially serving members in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada, before expanding to Australia.[2]

As of 2025, the App Store listing noted more than 20 marriages resulting from connections made through the platform, with over 1,000 members across its active markets.[2]

Platform

YourLavaan requires all members to undergo a live selfie verification process upon registration. Profiles are manually reviewed and approved within 24 hours of sign-up. The platform describes this as a measure to prevent fake profiles and ensure all users are genuine Sikh individuals seeking marriage.[3]

The application includes search filters designed for the Sikh community, including a five-option taxonomy relating to a member's stage of spiritual practice. The platform is open to Sikhs at all stages of their spiritual journey.[2]

Membership includes a free tier allowing users to browse and express interest in other members, and paid subscription tiers unlocking full messaging access.[3]

Media coverage

In June 2025, YourLavaan was featured on the Shay Kaur Grewal Show on BBC Radio London, in which the founders discussed the platform and the challenges facing Sikh professionals in finding a marriage partner through mainstream applications.[4]
