clarification regarding notability (April 14th 2026)
The draft has been updated to reflect two applicable WP:NACTOR criteria:
- Significant role in a notable production: Diané is a series regular in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, a notable TV production, within the long‑running Star Trek franchise. Also, he was recurring character in other notable productions as mentioned in the filmography.
- Unique/innovative contribution: He portrays the franchise's first openly gay Klingon character.
Independent secondary coverage is now clearly visible in the article text, including main cast reporting by Variety and analysis from Den of Geek, Metro Weekly, Parade, Entertainment Weekly, and Queerty.

- Additional note:
- Further supporting the subject's encyclopedic relevance, the Critics Choice Association announcement naming Diané an honoree and part of the Ensemble Award recipients for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has now been added to the draft with sourcing. - Hi @Tartigradesinspace,
- Good work progressing the draft. Could you please clarify if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, which would constitute a conflict of interest? Thanks in advance. Cabrils (talk) 22:45, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Thank you for getting back. I do not have any (personal or profesisonal) connection to the subject and I am not paid or somehow compensated for contributing to this draft. There is no COI according to the guidelines. Tartigradesinspace (talk) 23:12, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Cabrils Just checking in on the pending re-review. If there are any further questions, I'd be happy to provide my time to examine them. Tartigradesinspace (talk) 19:00, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Tartigradesinspace, thanks for the update. The Metro Weekly article is an interview, and as such is not necessarily considered a reliable source for establishing notability per WP:IV. However, the other new sources, including the Critics Choice article, are sufficient in my view to establish notability. On balance I agree the draft is now "unlikely to be deleted in mainspace” (see WP:AFCR), and WP:ANYBIO, WP:NACTOR). Accordingly, I have accepted it into mainspace. Notability of draft
WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject:
2) https://www.startrek.com/en-ca/news/starfleet-academy-cast-karim-diane-zoe-steiner
I think the page now meets WP:NACTOR criteria #1 and #2 because the actor has significant roles in multiple notable television shows for the world's largest networks. But MOST notably, he has just been cast in a leading role for the newest STAR TREK tv show for CBS on Paramount+. Star Trek is one of the most popular sci-fi franchises on the entire planet. - Thanks for this. Source (2) is not considered to be a reliable source (as defined).
- Sources (1) and (3) seem to me to be WP:ROTM brief mentions that do not appear to show that the subject has any notability beyond the average coverage for similar unexceptional actors.
- None of these sources evidences WP:NACTOR #2: "The person has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment."
- WP:NACTOR #1 is "The person has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions." I personally don't see being a recurring guest in 2 TV series as being sufficient to meet the criteria.
- In my view it is WP:TOOSOON. I think it's worth waiting until at least the new season has broadcast, and at least some reliable sources are presumably published. Cabrils (talk) 01:48, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Notes for reviewers
Previous declines happened before the TV series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy had been released. Since January 2026, the series has now premiered, and multiple new independent secondary sources have become available and added to the draft. Lead and body were rewritten for neutrality and clarity, addressing previous issues. Thank you for taking another look. Tartigradesinspace (talk) 21:17, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Note: There are articles on Karim Diané on German and Spanish editions of Wikipedia. Tartigradesinspace (talk) 16:10, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Comments left by AfC reviewers
Comment: Current coverage consists mostly of cast announcements, press releases and blogs. There is no significant independent coverage demonstrating notability. CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 15:02, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, WP:NACTOR) but presently it is not clear that it does. As other reviewers have noted, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’. Please note that many of the references are not from sources that are considered reliable for establishing notability and should be removed (including blogs and social media). Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link). Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page. It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:NACTOR criteria #3, because XXXXX"). Once you have implemented these suggestions, you may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page and I would be happy to reassess. Cabrils (talk) 23:42, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
