The Oncala Group is a geological formation in the Cameros Basin (N Spain). It dates back to the Berriasian.[1][2] It includes more than 2000 m of sediments that comprise siliciclastic fluvial-tidal deposits, which change laterally eastwards and upwards to predominantly carbonate-sulphate deposits formed in shallow coastal salinas [3][4][5][6]. Its deposition was controlled by the development of synsedimentary faults that produced significant thickness variations [7].
