Mizo people

I've listed this article for peer review because I wish to work for its status as a GA in the future.

I need GA requirements to be met, I need help with article size and culling. I also need a peer reviewed source integrity spot check. Any other matters relevant to improving the article is helpful and appreciated.

Thanks, Taitesena (talk) 03:18, 24 August 2025 (UTC)

Hey Taitesena, are you still interested in comments, or can this be closed and put up an GAN? Let me know either way! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 16:39, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
It can be closed, I have made significant changes, the only issue is the length which I haven't changed as making a separate page for history of Mizo people overlaps with History of Mizoram and Chhinlung. Happy for a GAN Taitesena (talk) 23:06, 24 September 2025 (UTC)

A/c 2011 census of India, there are 3168 Muslim mizos on any mizo(lushai) tribes category.[1]

The main issue is that the census is known for issues in tribal areas. Illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have been known to list themselves as Tribal classifications under forged citizenship. Due to the fluidity of tribal identity the foreign tribes such as Khasi, Miya and Assamese also might list themself as Mizo since they form the majority of the Muslim population of Mizoram. Even if it is the case these Muslims are Mizo, they make up a small percentage overall. So it's contentious but best to not list every statistic. I had to scrub population and religion for verifiability and importance.
Also just curious, why did you reformat your username in your signature? Taitesena (talk) 22:43, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Definition of mizo people

can anyone please provide the exact definition(from high reputated scholar/journals ) of mizo people,In the introduction of this page it state that the people who primarly found in Mizoram State. I think it may be those who speak Mizo language. 獅眠洞 (talk) 21:25, 23 November 2025 (UTC)

Joy L Pachuau in her authority book "Being Mizo" states that Mizos are the Zo people in India. The tribes of Lai, Hmar, Lusei, Mara are Mizo because they claim descent from Chhinlung. This is how Mizo are identified. Chakma don't claim origin from Chhinlung and while living in Mizoram aren't considered Mizo (similar to Reangs). Tribal identity is complex and some sub tribes of Mizo accept or reject this identity. Taitesena (talk) 22:02, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
The language argument doesn't work for the term Mizo. It works for the term Lusei which is a tribe of dubious origin but classified by the Lusei dialect. The Mizos have sub tribes who speak several languages some intelligible and some not. Taitesena (talk) 22:06, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
I mean a basic criteria ex:- linguistic, geographical, culture, genology or any other ground to identification or classification definition of Mizo people. 獅眠洞 (talk) 22:51, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
