I cant believe no one has written any discussion on Rolie Polie Olie. I think the program is great. It reminds me of Happy Days. mastoyshop — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.113.131.8 (talk • contribs) 05:29, 18 January 2007

Theme tune
A question worth investigating... Is voice in the theme tune computer generated? I suspect so, and don't recall seeing anyone being credited with the song (of course I may just have missed the credit.) Paul-b4 08:14, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Original air dates are probably bad
Just a heads-up here that many of the original air dates for episodes in this article have probably been compromised. An IP editor with a questionable track record recently tampered with some of the dates. When I went to revert to a clean version, I discovered that many of the dates were bad to begin with (compared against other online sources), because many of them had been added by a different IP editor with an even worse history of falsifying information. I don't have the interest or patience to go through and proofread every date in the article, but perhaps someone else will. AtticusX (talk) 06:28, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Zowie (pronounced like Zoey) is often nicknamed "Zo" in the show. Should we mention this?

The information on a section ("Media release")of the page "Rolie Polie Olie" is mistaken for the following reason:
Rolie Polie Olie stopped airing on Playhouse Disney on September 15, 2006, not May.
Look, I've went on the page List of programs broadcast by Playhouse Disney before, and the information clearly concluded September 15th as the last air date (It said "October 4, 1998-September 15, 2006"), although it has been completely blacked-out the last time I checked the page, which was yesterday, in which it had a WHOLE different date for the last airdate, but I believe the show stopped on September 15 and not May, or December (in which the Playhouse Disney shows page has right now),(considering of the series Handy Manny with a premiere date of September 16th, and ESPECIALLY considering that a show could premiere on a Saturday), which kind of started a new "relation" on September 16, and not exactly a new era. Thus, shows like Rolie Polie Olie had to stop airing on the 16th, including Out of the Box, and don't forget Bear in the Big Blue House. Therefore, Rolie Polie Olie stopped airing on September 15, 2006. Case closed.65.29.148.62 (talk) 19:05, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) 19:16, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
Partly done: I only added "September 2006," as I could not deviate from the date format used in the part you are talking about. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 01:19, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
That's fine, but is it true that the series premiered in November? I mean, the Web all over used to say October 4th. And even the Wikipedia pages including Rolie Polie Olie still say October 4th. Is this possible that the premiere date is actually November?
What about the number 4 next to "October"? The series premiered on October 4. 65.29.148.62 (talk) 09:48, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
Done It's fixed now. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 21:10, 13 July 2017 (UTC)- Like I said, I can't deviate from the date format that's already there. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 02:12, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
But what about the infobox? The infobox on the page Rolie Polie Olie has been deviated 'cause it says October 4. 65.29.148.62 (contribs | talk) 15:34, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
Undone: This request has been partially undone. Unfortunately, the source that was given in the infobox also says October 4th and it is the best source that we have right now. I cannot allow this series of edit requests to go any further at this point. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 20:48, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
OK, but just one thing: The premiere MONTH was changed back to November in "Media release". 65.29.148.62 (contribs | talk) 19:18, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Retro Futurism
The show has a vintage atmosphere reminiscent of the 1950s to mid-1960s, with futuristic elements.
The retro futurist look of the show is actually 1930s Moderne, otherwise known as Art Deco, combined with what is often seen as its antithesis, Functionalism. Nuttyskin (talk) 02:36, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

RFC: Protection

Should this page be unprotected? (CC) Tbhotch™ 04:45, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
Why?
Before someone wants to close this RFC and say that the right venue is WP:RFUP, let me explain the case.
Ronhjones (talk · contribs) was an admin that died in 2019. Ron had the tendency to add indefinite semi-protection to pages, especially before 2016. Before 2010, if you review the logs of old pages, many admins tended to do that, but later the norm was to at least try to add an expiration date. Even Ron after 2016 started adding expiration dates, and once WP:Pending changes (PC) were allowed back, he changed from indef semi to indef PC. I know this because I reviewed his protection log as old as 2010 and I found dozens and dozens of indefinitely semi-protected pages. In the last two weeks, pages that I have requested unprotection have not shown vandalism issues. I'm not saying that disruption will not occur or can occur, I'm saying that, we cannot know if disruption will continue if the page is protected, especially here, that was protected in 0 to 60 by Ron.
For example, let's take Demolition Man (film) as an example of a page previously protected by Ron that was later unprotected in 2020 and I'm watching since then. The logs indicate a new protection by an admin, and that's it. In fact, despite its popularity, the page receives little vandalism overall. That is the point of WP:TRYUNPROT. Rolie Polie Olie's disruption looked like this when it was protected. I don't remember if by that time blocks on IP ranges were allowed but most of the disruption came from 50.104.192.0/20 (talk · contribs), a range that has been inactive since June 2015.
Now, why I'm opening an RFC? Because I opened a request at RFUP (archived) and I was not notified by anyone (@Anachronist, Entranced98, and Ponyo:, and an IP) that there were such comments left. Back in 2020, even someone attempted to have this page unprotected (#Semi-protected edit request on 14 September 2020). Since the RFUP request was a local discussion, it is technically an opposition to the page's unprotection and that's why I'm opening this RFC.
Most of the edit requests present in this talk page have been performed in the main page, which is an indicative that a) IPs want to perform changes and b) that protection may not be necessary any longer. Unlike Ron's options at the time, in my view, and if people don't want to leave this page fully unprotected, PC is a good alternative as not every kid's TV show is inherently vandalized and a long protection without major evidence that disruption will be indefinite, goes against the spirit of allowing editing IPs.
So should this page be unprotected, PCed or leave semi-protected. (CC) Tbhotch™ 04:45, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
Discussion
- Keep semiprotection, with 1-year expiration. The replies in the archive speak for themselves, and nothing in this RFC introduction contradicts the rationales given by multiple people, so I am not sure why we are revisiting this again in the form of an RFC. I don't know why Tbhotch did not get notified of these replies; perhaps its a preferences setting? The claim that
Most of the edit requests present in this talk page have been performed in the main page
is demonstrably false, simply by looking above. This talk page shows only declined or partially declined edit requests. The one that was eventually done, was done after some back and forth controversy. This shows protection is working as it should, and changing it to pending-changes would just open up the article for even more unconstructive changes by users who wouldn't normally bother with an edit request, and add more burden to the reviewers who must patrol, review, and ultimately revert the edits. There are changes to protection in the works (not deployed yet) that would allow overlapping protection periods, so that when one expires, an existing unexpired protection takes its place. Hopefully a year from now we'll have this. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:53, 23 September 2025 (UTC)- You can apply both PCP and semi-protection at the same time (e.g. Tweety's High-Flying Adventure.) Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 04:02, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- Unprotect (Summoned by bot) i see nothing egregious on talk page. indefinite semi-protection should just be lifted, and we go on with our day. if necessary, we can always do WP:RFPP if vandalism occurs again. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 14:02, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Expanding on this, i dont see a pattern of edit requests indicating significant attention from vandals.
- the edit requests appear to be years apart. Any vandalism can be easily caught by cluebot or reverted by watchlist followerz. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 16:21, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Unprotect: Why not? We can always reprotect in case of disruption. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 03:57, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- Unprotect – In the absence of seemingly any rationale for ongoing protection – never mind one that could pass WP:RPPI – why wouldn't we try to unprotect the page per WP:TRYUNPROT after a decade? Graham11 (talk) 04:58, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Unprotect After a long time being under ECP I think lowering protection should be given a go. As mentioned by ChildrenWillListen we can always reprotect if there is disruption.GothicGolem29 (talk) 00:26, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Edit request 10 December 2025
Good Morning,
I am one of the voice actors of the show. I tried to make an edit but was unsuccessful due to a few reasons. I would like to request a change.
My name on the site is Joshua Tucci. I can provide proof of this and I am this person. I am a transgender woman and wanted to update my new legal name (as per my birth certificate and IDs) to reflect my new name. I would like to remove my deadname from this page as it is no longer my name.
I am happy to provide proof of this but am unsure how to do this as this is private information.
