Proposed image addition: Víctor M. Blanco Telescope

Hello, I am affiliated with NOIRLab (user Marcodatadev), so I am proposing this here for review rather than editing the article directly. The existing content and images would remain in place; this would simply add a freely licensed image to the gallery.

Preview of the proposed image: the Víctor M. Blanco 4-meter Telescope (left) under moonlight at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory.[1]

Proposed change: Add one freely licensed image of the Víctor M. Blanco Telescope to the existing gallery, alongside the images already there. Image: File:Dancing in the Moonlight at CTIO (iotw2621a).tiff Suggested placement: Inside the existing <gallery> near the top of the article, added as a new line after the current entries. Suggested caption: The Víctor M. Blanco Telescope (left) and the SMARTS–GSU 1.5-meter Telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, under moonlight. The exact wikitext I suggest, added as a new line inside the existing <gallery>, is: File:Dancing in the Moonlight at CTIO (iotw2621a).tiff|The Víctor M. Blanco Telescope (left) and the SMARTS–GSU 1.5-meter Telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, under moonlight.[1] Justification: The article's existing imagery shows the Blanco dome in daylight and the telescope's interior with DECam. This long-exposure night image adds a complementary exterior view, showing the telescope in its observing environment alongside the neighbouring SMARTS–GSU 1.5-meter Telescope. The two telescopes shown are both located at CTIO, where the Blanco is one of the principal instruments.[1] Placing it in the gallery keeps the layout uncrowded and leaves all current images in place. License: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), with credit to CTIO/NOIRLab/NSF/AURA. I am happy to adjust the caption or placement if editors prefer. If the community feels the article is better as it stands, I am happy to withdraw the request. Thank you. Marcodatadev (talk) 16:19, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
