P3 group GmbH is a German privately held international management and technology consulting firm headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. Founded in 1996 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in Aachen, the company employs more than 1,900 professionals from 70 countries, operates 48 offices on five continents across 38 subsidiaries, and reported revenues exceeding 200 million euros worldwide in 2024.

P3 structures its market offering across three equal pillars: industry sectors it serves, technical and strategic competencies it provides, and proprietary software products it develops and operates.

History

P3 group GmbH was established in 1996 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology in Aachen, Germany. The company was founded to apply engineering research to industry, with early work centered on quality management for the automotive sector.

Following a corporate restructuring in 2019, the Stuttgart-based entity rebranded as P3 Global GmbH, before returning to the name P3 group GmbH in 2020.

In 2022, Forbes recognized P3 as one of the World's Best Management Consulting Firms.[1]

Leadership

Dr. Christoph Theis is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of P3 group and its majority stakeholder. Theis co-founded P3 in 1996 as an engineering spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and has led its growth from a single-site quality-management consultancy into a global, multi-pillar management and technology group spanning automotive, energy, telecommunications, finance, public sector, and artificial intelligence. He steered the company's 2019 corporate restructuring and has since driven its expansion into electric mobility, AI, and digital products, building P3 into one of Germany's larger independent management and technology consultancies. In 2026, Handelsblatt profiled Theis for his role in advising Porsche's battery-cell strategy, describing him as the figure behind Porsche's push into in-house battery cell production.[2] Theis also appeared on the "Wo Wandel wirkt" podcast by Flip, discussing leadership, organizational culture, engineering, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of work.[3]

Robert Rendl serves alongside Theis as Group Chief Operating Officer (COO), responsible for the company's global operations.
