Proposed deletion of Stefan Schaal

The article Stefan Schaal has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

InceptionBot
Hi there:
I am Wikimycota, an active editor in Chinese Wikipedia (zh-wiki). I currently maintain portal:fungi (and once portal:biology as well) in zh-wiki. One of the jobs we've been doing is to go through the long list of new pages daily to look for relevant articles for these portals. I just noticed that in en-wiki, this can be achieved by your bot pretty accurately. Is it possible for us to use your bot in zh-wiki? If so, I could create a bot account in zh-wiki, which could potentially run your code (with the "rules" for each portal set in Chinese) after approved by the local community. I apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you in advance.--Wikimycota (talk) 09:19, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Legacy JavaScript global variables have been deprecated for seven years. They will soon be removed from all wikis. Gadgets and scripts that use them will stop working. You can test your community's gadgets on "group0" wikis. For example Test Wikipedia or mediawiki.org. The legacy JavaScript global variables are already disabled there. You can read the migration guide to fix old scripts.

Recurring errors on jazz cleanup listing
The Cleanup Listing for Wikiproject Jazz has articles that continue to show up on the list, but I can't find the errors after spending hours, days, weeks, who knows, going over the page, making change after change to try to fix the problems. It's Time (Michael Bublé album) is said to have a "Web citation with no URL" but I can't find that error. Billy Cobham and The Jazz Messengers are listed under "Citation with format and no URL". I've never found those errors. In fact, the Cobham and Jazz Messengers articles are always on the list with problems I can't find. Do you have any ideas about this?
Vmavanti (talk) 03:12, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- The "no URL" error in It's Time (Michael Bublé album) is in this citation: ""IFPI Middle East Awards – 2008". IFPI Middle East." The red format errors were fixed by using
|medium=, as explained in the documentation for {{cite AV media}}. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:51, 6 September 2018 (UTC) - @Vmavanti: The listings are generated from hidden categories in articles. These categories are included by maintenance templates or by normal templates that detect errors in their parameters. To turn on hidden category display at the bottom of each article, go to Preferences -> Appearance -> Advanced options -> Show hidden categories. --Bamyers99 (talk) 15:03, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- When you added or edited a template with the visual editor the input boxes were very big. This has been fixed. The input boxes will now be smaller until you click on them. Then they will change size to fit the text.
Problems
- Some diffs showed lines in the wrong order. This was fixed last week.
- Marking a cross-wiki notification as read didn't work every time. The other wiki was not updated. This has now been fixed.
<maplink>did not work for a few days. This was because of a bug. This has now been fixed.{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}is used by some templates. For a period edits saved with{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}would save the previous user's name and not your username. This is now fixed. Edits made before the bug was fixed will still be wrong and need to be corrected.- When you move a page the title still shows the old page name. The developers are working on fixing this.
Changes later this week
- Because of a data centre test you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for up to an hour on 12 September and 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). Jazz cleanup listing
Does the Wikiproject Jazz Cleanup Listing usually get released today? I haven't seen the new one.
Vmavanti (talk) 13:54, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Cleanup listing errors
I added coordinates to several of the articles which continue to be listed on the Cleanup Listing under "Coordinates Needed". Similarly, I added the title to an article which continues to be listed under "citations without title." What happened? Did I do something wrong? These fixes don't seem to be acknowledged.
Vmavanti (talk) 18:04, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Vmavanti: The Sept. 11 run failed while processing projects that start with the letter L. I did not notice the failure at that time. When the Sept. 18 run started it finished the rest of the projects and did not process any others. I reran the listings for all projects today, however they are as of early Sept 18, meaning it did not process any article changes made after early Sept. 18. --Bamyers99 (talk) 19:12, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

Errors on jazz Cleanup Listing
Today's cleanup listing says that four articles need coordinates, but those articles already have coordinates: Lakeside Jazz Festival, Mellon Jazz Festival, Montreux Music & Convention Centre, Montreux Music & Convention Centre. It also lists "Sugar Plum (jazz song)", although that article was deleted last week. I haven't checked for any more errors.
Is the Cleanup Listing broken?

InceptionBot missed my article
InceptionBot didn't log my new article on Prunus carduchorum to User:InceptionBot/NewPageSearch/Plants/log and User:AlexNewArtBot/PlantsSearchResult but it did add it to other pages such as User:AlexNewArtBot/KurdistanSearchResult. Is this unusual behavior for the bot? Abductive (reasoning) 17:05, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Abductive: I have fixed the rules to match categories that begin with flora and plant. The article now scores above the threshold. --Bamyers99 (talk) 17:27, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- Cool, glad to be of assistance. Abductive (reasoning) 17:31, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Abductive: InceptionBot missing new articles on organisms is going to be an ongoing issue as articles are increasingly written using {{Speciesbox}} or {{Automatic taxobox}}. There are several strings in a typical manual taxobox for a plant that generate score for InceptionBot; "plant", "angiosperm", "aceae". Some of these strings may not appear in an article at all if an automatic taxobox is used (I think the main reason Prunus carduchorum got missed was it doesn't mention the family with its "aceae" string).

- Bamyers99, would it be a good idea to assign a few points for "speciesbox" and "automatic taxobox"? The obvious drawback is that these strings won't be specific to plants. Maybe it would be better to initiate a new report for articles on all organisms? I'm monitoring 12 organism related new article reports already anyway, and I'm pretty sure most of the people who are monitoring any of the organism reports are monitoring more than one. It might be easier to have a single report under Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life in addition to the existing reports. Plantdrew (talk) 18:53, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

The wikis now have a content security policy report. This means that you might get a warning in your javascript console when you load external resources in your user scripts. For security reasons it is recommended that you don't do this. It might not be possible to load external resources in your scripts in the future.
