Help me!
Please help me with... I'm currently planning on doing some work on the Dress article, and have made a couple edits to it over the last couple days, so far just to fix minor details. (My first edit was to put the word "primarily" back into the lead based on the sources cited, and my second edit was to correct some issues with a duplicate "and" in the lead). Today, I noticed some more issues with duplicate or missing "and"s in the lead, so I tried to correct them, but ran into an edit filter for repetitive edits (I think, I don't recall the exact details of the warning that popped up) and couldn't complete the edit. What can I do better to avoid running into edit filters like these in the future? DawnlightMelody (talk) 00:24, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- @DawnlightMelody: I just made an edit to the Dress article and didn't see any edit filters. Could you please try again and let us know the exact message you receive? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 00:45, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty :Thank you for coming! It says "As an anti-abuse measure, you are limited from performing this action too many times in a short space of time, and you have exceeded this limit. Please try again in a few minutes. If you are attempting to run a bot or semi-automated script, please read and understand our bot policy, then request approval. - I looked in the Help desk archives and found that PrimeHunter responded to a similar question with "We cannot always say what caused such a message but it will probably go away when your account becomes autoconfirmed, meaning at least four days and ten edits at Wikipedia." So try making a couple more edits to other articles before returning to the Dress article. Hope this helps! GoingBatty (talk) 01:48, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, that makes sense - thanks! (Ironically, I think that last edit to this very discussion got me autoconfirmed, so I think I should be good to go now.) DawnlightMelody (talk) 01:51, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
