Feedback
The reviewer, A.Classical-Futurist, left the following feedback:
This draft's references do not show that the subject meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for schools. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:
  • provide significant coverage: discuss the subject in detail, excluding routine coverage like sports results, league tables, government inspection reports, and listings in databases or listicles;
  • are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent: not connected to the subject, such as press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.

Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

Individual faculties, departments, and student clubs are rarely notable on their own. You could add this content to the main educational institution article if one exists instead.
This draft is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Wikipedia's verifiability policy requires that all content be supported by reliable sources.
  • Reliable sources include: reputable newspapers, magazines, academic journals, and books from respected publishers.
  • Unacceptable sources include: personal blogs, social media, predatory publishers, most tabloids, and websites where anyone can contribute.
Replace any unreliable sources with high-quality sources. If you cannot find a reliable source for the material, it should be removed.

Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Hikmat-Maghdid. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation for any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

See the FAQ for article subjects for more information.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:14, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

AfC declines

Could you please not remove earlier declines from Draft:Shaqlawa Technical College, they must remain there until the draft is accepted. I've now twice restored them after you removed them. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:59, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

Information icon

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Hikmat-Maghdid, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Hikmat-Maghdid|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:59, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

"Hello DoubleGrazing, I have disclosed my conflict of interest (COI) on my user page as a student. I am not a paid editor; I am a volunteer. I have also simplified the draft and added independent sources. Thank you."

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Shaqlawa Technical College when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Shaqlawa Technical College moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Shaqlawa Technical College. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:35, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

Please do not move this into the main article space. The sources cited provide zero evidence that the college is notable. Also, as a student of this college, you have a conflict of interest in the subject. Please put your draft through AfC review instead. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:37, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Hello DoubleGrazing, thank you for your feedback and for moving the page back to draftspace. I have significantly improved the draft to address your concerns. I have added several independent secondary sources, including an official report from the Erbil Governorate (regarding institutional activities) and independent media coverage from +964 Media and Kurdistan24 (regarding student innovations and new academic departments).
I would like to clarify that this is not an advertisement, but an effort to document a recognized government academic institution that plays a vital role in the region's technical education. I have fully disclosed my Conflict of Interest (COI) as a student on my user page and have ensured that the tone is strictly neutral and academic, removing all promotional language. I would be very grateful if you could re-evaluate the draft based on these new verifiable sources. Best regards. Hikmat-Maghdid (talk) 10:30, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

Most of the sources cited are primary, and the two secondary ones (#4 and 5) do not provide significant coverage of the college. Worth noting also that while universities by and large are notable, individual sub-units (faculties, colleges, departments, etc.) by and large aren't.

Dear DoubleGrazing,
I am writing to formally advocate for the establishment of a dedicated and comprehensive profile for Shaqlawa Technical College. This institution stands as one of the most influential and prestigious technical colleges within the Kurdistan Region, distinguished by its rigorous academic standards and its significant contribution to technical education.
Despite its high scientific caliber and institutional impact, the college has historically functioned as an "unsung hero"—consistently producing excellence while remaining underrepresented in public and digital records. However, I can assure you that the college is currently on a trajectory of rapid growth and is committed to increasing the visibility of its scientific and community-based activities.
As a dedicated contributor, Hikmat-Maghdid, I have developed a clear action plan to address the current lack of documentation:
  1. Visual Documentation: I will personally take several high-quality photographs of the college to ensure an accurate and professional visual representation.
  2. Primary Source Data: I am in the process of coordinating with the college’s administrative board to gather verified data, historical records, and academic milestones that are currently unavailable to the public.
  3. Active Engagement: I am fully committed to providing any further evidentiary support or administrative details required to formalize this request.
I kindly urge you to approve the creation of a dedicated page for this institution. Please let me know of any specific criteria or procedural requirements I should fulfill to expedite this process.
Thank you for your time and professional consideration.
Best regards,
Hikmat-Maghdid

Please do not use LLM or any other AI-based tools to generate your comments, or anything else for Wikipedia. I've no interest in reading what some text-prediction-algorithm has cobbled together.
This college will have to satisfy the notability guideline for organisations, WP:ORG. If you can base your draft on sources which do that, then an article can potentially be accepted in the encyclopaedia. If you cannot, then not. That's all there is to it. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:51, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Sorry for the previous messages, I am still learning how Wikipedia works. I have updated the draft again and added 3 new independent sources from other universities (University of Mosul and ATU) about international conferences and academic collaborations. I hope this now meets the WP:ORG rules. Thank you for your patience Hikmat-Maghdid (talk) 19:06, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
I forgot to resubmit my article "Draft:Shaqlawa Technical College". I have edited and resubmitted it now. Please review it. I added 3 external and neutral sources that talk about the college's international importance. Hikmat-Maghdid (talk) 20:58, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi. I've added three new sections with independent external sources for verification. I am working hard to accurately document important Kurdish political and academic figures on English Wikipedia. Hikmat-Maghdid (talk) 17:23, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

Shaqlawa Technical College

I see you moved Shaqlawa Technical College into the main article space past AfC. You really shouldn't have done that, because it still has no evidence that this college is notable according to the WP:ORG guideline. I understand that you would like to have the draft accepted because the college is your alma mater, but we have criteria that articles must satisfy, which this doesn't. I have redirected the article to the main article on the college's parent organisation Erbil Polytechnic University (which itself provides no evidence of notability!), and I will have to ask you not to remove that redirect or the article is likely to be deleted. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:34, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello, thank you for the notice. I added three neutral sources and thought the article was ready for publication, which is why I moved it . I will look for more independent sources and get back to you later to see if it meets the criteria .
Best regards. Hikmat-Maghdid (talk) 10:30, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
It's not enough for the sources to be neutral or 'independent', if by the latter you mean not related to the college. They must also be secondary sources, typically print or broadcast media outlets providing journalistic coverage and commentary, not primary sources like gov't departments, educational organisations, etc. And even when they are secondary sources, they must provide significant coverage directly about the subject, ie. in this case the college, not some events taking place there or students graduating or new buildings being opened, or other such routine business reporting.
I can't remember if I've said this already, but the vast majority of organisations, including in this case educational institutions, are not notable enough to justify an article. Even universities aren't necessarily notable (as the article on Erbil Polytechnic University shows!), and individual sub-units like faculties, colleges, departments, etc. very seldom are. I'm only saying this to make the point that it is perfectly possible, likely even, that this college simply won't merit a standalone article. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:04, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your help and patience, Sorry for any trouble . I am still learning the professional standards of Wikipedia. I appreciate your guidance.
