Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to May 7, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Serols (talk) 17:21, 20 July 2025 (UTC)

Okay Jahnmo123 (talk) 11:25, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

Recent edit reversion

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 10:13, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

Sorry to disturb you, but can you revert the reverted changes except the copyrighted paragraph please? I have worked really hard for a week to make my area of Birmingham that I live renewed. Please can you revert it? Jahnmo123 (talk) 11:25, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
As you are brand-new here, but I left you a message when you responded you did not include my name so I had no idea you had responded. I do appreciate that you might've assumed I would know about it but I didn't. The only reason I came to this page was after seeing you curiously blanking my talk page and restoring I wanted to let you know that wasn't appropriate but maybe you were just trying to get my attention.
I will look into your query shortly S Philbrick(Talk) 11:52, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
Oh, sorry. 😊 Jahnmo123 (talk) 12:28, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
Also I cannot find the parenthetical comment. Jahnmo123 (talk) 11:26, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean when you say you can't find "the parenthetical comment". I don't know what this refers to.
I did link to the explanation of why you were reverted. I hope you are familiar with blue text being a hyperlink. In my opening sentence I linked "here"
That hyperlink leads to:
Reverted good faith edits by Jahnmo123 (talk): Copyright issue re https://billdargue.jimdofree.com/placenames-gazetteer-a-to-y/places-n/newtown/
That edit summary identifies that my concern was a copyright issue and it was followed by a hyperlink teading to the copyrighted material.
Is it possible you saw the notice at the bottom of the page: Reuse permitted Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 And thought the material was acceptably licensed?
No, I cannot redo your edit taking out just the copyrighted material – if I did so it would be my edit and I'd be taking responsibility for the content and I don't feel comfortable doing that.
It appears you have not enabled the option so that I can send you an email. If you do so I will send you a copy of your entire edit.
It's my practice, when writing anything more than just a few words, to compose it in an external editor so that if the edit is reverted for some reason I don't lose it. I am aware that many new editors compose long edits in the edit box but that can lead to losing a lot of material. Your call but I urge you to use an external editor to compose long edits.
I will be happy to send you your original edit if you can turn on your email option. It should be in your preferences, if you don't know how to do it let me know and I'll research it. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:03, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
Okay I turned it on. Jahnmo123 (talk) 12:27, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help. 🫡 Jahnmo123 (talk) 12:33, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

I actually did not use a chatbot. i used a website to use a similar text from a reference. https://billdargue.jimdofree.com/placenames-gazetteer-a-to-y/places-n/newtown/ Jahnmo123 (talk) 14:52, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
